The Grindhouse Soundtrack

Well I guessed that months ago before the trailer came out so my opinion has changed quite a bit but I would still love to hear some Morricone in Grindhouse.

morricone in grind house? wtf…

amazon.com has a cd listed with the asin: B000NJL07K

sounds interesting, just called “grind house” composer: robert rodriguez. i assume that’s the score, as

"quentin tarantino’s death proof2 as a cd is listed under: B000N3ST7K

I was under the impression it was all Rodriguez score music. I cant recognize it.
[/quote]
It’s definetly a Rodriguez Score. It has a whole lot of parallels to the Sin OST.

Heres the Death Proof soundtrack listing:

“The Last Race” – Jack Nitzsche (Never heard it)

“Baby, It’s You” – Smith (TOLD YA IT WAS THIS VERSION!! I think the reason is because the lead singer sounds like Dusty Springfield.

“Planning & Scheming” – Eli Roth & Michael Bacall

"Jeepster" – T Rex (Never heard it)

“Stuntman Mike” – Rose McGowan & Kurt Russell

Someone owes me an apology ;D Just kidding!

;D

Well, it’s a surprise!

Morricone’s track is taken from Dario Argento’s “Cat O’ Nine Tails”

Chick Habit is from the film “But I’m A Cheerleader”. Lee is dressed up as a cheerleader in the film.

But Im a cheerleader is one hell of a movie

Ive already listened to a few of the songs and theyre great. You can hear how theyll fit into the film. Theyre very atmospheric and could be creepy if put in the right context (which QT def will be doing). Esp “Staggerlee”, “Jeepster”, " and “Down In Mexico”

Thanks for the info Pete. Of course, I immediately went ahead to find and listen to these tunes. A big Bluesy and Classic Rock, and R&B flavor for this soundtrack:

“The Last Race” – Jack Nitzsche

I only know Jack for his scores of “Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Starman”, but couldn’t find this track online. It appears on his album called “Hot Rod Box Set”. Stuntman Mike’s car-driving theme, anyone?

“Baby, It’s You” – Smith

Haven’t heard this version yet, but I’ve ALWAYS loved this song. Whether it’s covered by The Shirelles or The Beatles.

“Paranoia Prima” – Ennio Morricone

Still haven’t seen “Cat o’Nine” yet, but always a plus to see a Morricone track in QT flick. Listened to a sample of the song and definetly felt the eerie presence

"Jeepster" – T Rex

Listened to it. Thought it was a lackluster tune at first but it sure caught on to me by the 2-minute mark. I’m sure you know these guys best for “Bang-A-Gong”

“Staggolee” – Pacific Gas & Electric

Listened to a sample of it. Vintage Blues song

"The Love You Save (May Be Your Own)" – Joe Tex

A Reservoir Dogs-alumni! But this here’s a ballad. It’s got a nice Sam Cooke feel to it

"Good Love, Bad Love" – Eddie Floyd

Looks like there’s an error here. Couldn’t find this at all in Eddie Floyd’s catalog, who’s best known for the hit, “Knock On Wood” (Unless QT happens to have some rare version of the song)

“Down In Mexico” – The Coasters

These guys are famous for “Yakety Yak, Poison Ivy,Charlie Brown”. Never heard this song before so I was expecting another uptempo hokey tune, but I liked it! Very big band/Cab Calloway-ish.

“Hold Tight” – Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich

Listened to a sample. Sure sounds like a 60’s British Invasion tune to me.

“Sally and Jack” – Pino Donaggio

Seen BLOW OUT, but don’t remember the song.

“It’s So Easy” – Willy DeVille

Couldn’t find this song, but I checked out a few other songs by him and he kinda sounds like Tom Waits. But more rock-orientated.

“Riot In Thunder Alley” – Eddie Beram

Couldn’t find it. I think he’s a brass player though.

“Chick Habit” – April March

Listened to it. Very reminiscent of the 5,6,7,8’s! There’s a Cheerleader in DP right? Well, this has GOT to be her theme song!

I havent got The Last Race, Good Love Bad Love, Its So Easy, Riot In Thunder Alley, Chick Habit yet, I really want to hear those.

The ones Ive heard gave me a good idea of where QTs going to put them in the film.

I keep thinking about Inglorious Bastards. Imagine all the awesome music that QTs gonna throw in that one!! 8)

CHICK HABIT IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL!!!

I think I’ll shake my boo till april!!! ;D

‘jeepster’ by t-rex is a GREAT track. pure 70’s British glam rock at it’s best. They were HUGE in the UK and Ireland back then.

I love Jeepster! It goes from regular glam rock to being sorta creepy when he talks about being a vampire.

Staggerlee sounds like its Stuntman Mike’s theme when hes watching the girls. We’ll see…
