Tarantinos Best Film

MaHnIgGaBeAuMoNt has some very interesting points…I like the confederate one…I’ve never thought of some of those.

Kill Bill is a great movie for what it is, but remember exactly it is what it is… A grindhouse movie. Pulp Fiction is a cult classic and considered one of the greatest movies of all time, I doubt Kill Bill will hold that same stature. I don’t think it is because it’s a bad movie or anything, just because it’s not that type of movie.

I think Kill Bill will go down in film history as what it is; an exploitation movie.

It’ll be on the shelves 10 years from now with a few remaining pop exploitations from the 70s like Foxy Brown and Coffy.

Dogs is still the best.

And Kill Bill is MUCH more than an expliotation film. It is a QT movie!

If i may take the initiative to generalize… i think Queintin (you know your gonna be someone special if your name is Quentin) has donw a wonderul job on all his movies becuse he is a nutcase, a nerd, a looser.

He has not (like many other directiors (speilburg)) Spoiled his origionality by becoming a buisness man in the world of ciniema. He makes movies simply as if he were a viewer. If only that prosepect was used in alot of things in life…

I enjoyed Reservoir Dogs the most, but truthfully, I believe Pulp Fiction is Quentin’s finest work. There are just so many different aspects of Pulp Fiction that make it such a cinematic experience.

This is Reservoir Dude?

No, but I can see why you would think I was him (because of the “Pulp Dog” in his signature). No, I’m just a new member. Sorry if my name caused some confusion.

1) Kill Bill

2) Jackie Brown

3) Pulp Fiction

4) Reservoir Dogs

I love Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs more than most movies but Kill Bill and Jackie Brown are by far my favorite Tarantino flicks. They’re just too cool.

well, other maybe one point,  everything in that thread is nothing more than “nifty little shit.”  it does not enhance the film, nor show any creativity, just a lot of cheap allusions.  i feel pulp fiction i still better movie, in terms of utilizing the tools of film
Dude, Kill Bill is a great step forward for QT as a director. As he himself said, it's easy to film two people sitting at a table talking to each other. But a kung fu, samurai action movie like Kill Bill is much more challenging to direct. And I think he passed the challenging test with full marks! :)

People want to live in the past, thats why they pick Pulp or Dogs as his best film.

You’ll wake up after you see KB Vol 2. If the brilliant cinema/action work in Vol 1 wasnt enough for ya, maybe youll come around when Vol 2 kicks your asses.

Kill Bill Vol 1 IS CINEMA AT ITS PUREST! If you love movies you should know that already.

True Cinema is NOT about dialogue and talking. It is all about telling the story through visuals and music. Kill Bill Vol 1 IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY I WATCH MOVIES TODAY.

I totally agree vic.

I just saw Kill Bill again today and I think the visuals were so great. I tried to imagine how he shot some of the scenes while I was watching it and it’s just incredible. I mean, the long scene in HOBL when Uma is going to the toilet is shot so perfectly. The way the camera follows Uma is so cool.

The music is also great and is chosen to fit together perfectly with the images.

It’s not the story itself, it’s how the story is told and that’s what I like in Kill Bill.

This doesn’t mean that I prefer Kill Bill over Pulp Fiction or dogs or something, because I love em all equally (KB for the visuals and music, PF for the plot, dialogues,…, RD…).

I just can’t compare these movies and choose the best one, because I think they’re all so different and great in there own way.

My best tarantino movies:

1.Pulp Fiction=The whole story

2.Kill Bill=The action

3.Reservoir Dogs=The Coolness

4.Jackie Brown=the Characters

Dogs - most important film,

True Romance - best written,

Pulp Fiction - Best overall work!!!

Kill Bill NOT in the ballpark! (Personal oppinion, it blew!)  Get off QT’s di@k for a minute. I love Q.T.‘s work all except this garbage.  You sound a lil’ slow with the “direction” comment Scarface. Besides the anime part, there was NOTHING we’ve never seen before.  I wont pay to see KB 2 and personally hope he skips the idea and goes on to something (Vega Bros) where he can use his “talents”.  If I want to see that crap I’ll rent a Steven Seagal or D.M.X./ Jet Li film.

dude, if you dont understand the movie or dont like the genre…thats fine, but dont say its garbage because it aint garbage…you can say I dont like it, but you cant say that its a bad movie…

People who didnt like Kill Bill dont like movies. It may sound extreme but I truly believe that. They just should go do something else with their time.

I also feel the people on this board who dont like Kill Bill should really watch more movies/study them because they arent up to date on what movies are about. Ya gotta open your minds and stop expecting Pulp Fiction 2, Reservoir Dogs 2. Man it sucks to be you.

Totally agree Toothpick. And no offense Eggplant, but comparing Kill Bill to a Steven Seagal movie is one of the most moronic comments I’ve read on this board. Ever.

Out of all the reviews for Kill Bill I’ve read, there was one sentence written by Bob Strauss of the Los Angeles Daily News which really struck me. He said:

Supremely demented and grotesquely gorgeous, "Kill Bill – Vol. 1’ is a movie that will separate the true cinema lovers from … well, just about everyone who has another set of values.

And he’s totally right.
hold up, so you’re telling me that kill bill is the pinnacle of film making?  that it is wat films are about?  i liked kill bill, but let admit it, its a mere action film.
Man, why do I have to explain why Kill Bill Vol 1 kicks so much ass?

Its not a “mere action film” to anyone I know that loves it. I feel bad for you, if thats all you got out of it. Yes, it is a pinnacle of filmmaking to me. Its the best thing QT has done so far in terms of creating a purely cinematic story. We all know QT can write like a motherfuckin genius, but Kill Bill showed that he can also tell a story using the original cinematic tools other than just dialogue, i.e. the camera and music.

I love Kill Bill Vol 1 more than any other film Ive seen in a theater in my life so far. It was that good to me. It was just a dream come true to see something that daring unfolding on the silver screen.

“Kill Bill: Volume 1” shows Quentin Tarantino so effortlessly and brilliantly in command of his technique that he reminds me of a virtuoso violinist racing through “Flight of the Bumble Bee” – or maybe an accordion prodigy setting a speed record for “Lady of Spain.” I mean that as a sincere compliment." - Roger Ebert

And theres more to come in Volume 2.

Dont get it twisted, I DID NOT compare Kill Bill to Seagal movies (Read before you write). I love violence in movies, I (personally) like more plot and charector development. Some Q.T. Fans disagree, and want nothing but action, and violence. These people are the ones Q.T. made “Kill Bill” for and they loved it. I did see brilliance in the “anime” portion, as well as the final snowfall fight sequence.  Ma Nigga Beaumont understands that acting and diologue are the 2 most important pieces of filmmaking.

A film like “Things to Do in Denver When Your Dead”, while surrounded by violence, actually showed very little and in my oppinion, was a far superior film.

Don’t talk about violence in movies when you clearly don’t know what your talking about. Kill Bill’s violence is just all in good fun, it wasn’t gross or over-the-top, it was fine as it is. It’s all meant NOT to be taken seriously. And if you do take it seriously then you can’t say you like violence in films. Actually I’ll let you show me up here. Name a few movies you enjoy with (quite) intense violence and I’ll shut up.
