I personally think that if you saw the movies of bruce lee (es spes fists of fury and enter the dragon) which you probably have…and you look at kill bill, you can only love the way these movies are a blend with QT’s movieworld, in which everything goes…and a revenge movie in the style of the bruce lee movies…mixed with his own style…and plots…funny and cool characters and lines…
QT takes you on a rollercoaster ride and gives you rushes…memories from other movies and builds things up nice and soft only to hit you hard with something shocking…and then he even goes beyond that and shocks you again…he injectes…adrenaline shots…nowhere else seen…only in his movies…he is the master of doing this…take you in his movie world  and mind…and I have to say that kill bill succeeds in this the best…his latest is the greatest…
hope you can understand what I’m saying cause its more a feeling than anything else…you cant really compare it to other movies made by other directors…QT takes you on his rollercoastermoviegeniusmind…just enjoy and kick back…
yeah I agree, that Kill Bill doesnt have a real big message like for instance fight club or american history x has…but if you look at kill bill in its own genre…revenge style movie…QT made a masterpiece in its genre…and I think that he created a better movie in its genre then any of his other movies…I dont think its fair to judge it for something it isnt soposed to be…it isnt soposed to give you a big message…and I really dont think that that was the deal with any of his other movies…I think kill bill is the best QT mind movie blend kick back relax be shocked and enjoy the ride movie that he has made…I think that QT is always looking in his movies to give you the ultimite moviefantasy ride…I think that he can still do better but I think he succeeded at doing this the best with his latest: Kill Bill…
Well first off, QT doesnt try to put big messages in his films. Regardless of what people think, QT is a pop art director. Hes not making statements about politics or society with his movies. Hes a fuckin genre director like his heroes: Sergio Leone, Brian DePalma, Chang Cheh, Lucio Fulci etc etc. If you want to be hit with big messages watch an Oliver Stone movie.
Pulp Fiction is not the height of QTs work. I dont understand why people think thats it. Thats the best he can do. Fuck that! And Inglorious Bastards will probably kick Kill Bills ass.
I think what happened with Kill Bill Vol 1 was everyone thought QT was going to do another QT dialogue filled movie. Then when they saw it was an action-revenge film, the real QT fans that know what hes about that are into the same kinds of films he is, LOVED it. They saw QT was expanding his horizons as a filmmaker and artist. They saw Kill Bill Vol 1 for what it was: a true work of cinematic brilliance. Beautiful visuals, great direction, awesome music score, great action/acting by the performers. Just an all around great film filled with even more laughs, thrills and chills than his previous work combined.
Then theres the old school “QT fans” that wanted Pulp Fiction 2. More QT dialogue and more character development. They were let down. Awwwwwwww. QT had taken a hard right and they were still following the trail on the left.
(Also, there IS another half of the movie to watch still)
So what it comes down to is: a) Do you watch movies to see the same thing each time, or b) do you want to see an artist grow and become more proficient and well rounded.

What pisses me off is that you dismiss Kill Bills complex shot composition as just fluff for the hell of it. Just because Tarantino is a master at creating stylized cinema means theres nothing to it? Kill Bill Vol 1 is less of a film because it has more action, style and less dialogue? So all the time I was sitting in the theater being shocked, laughing, feeling sad, feeling exhilarated by what I was watching all that was just unreal emotion huh?
And who says QT has to deliver a message to tell a great story? I keep repeating hes a genre director. He never has followed a rule stating he must convey something more than a kickass cinema experience. What you get out of his movies is up to you. But dont tell me that movies are supposed to change your political or social opinions to be important.
The reason I loved Pulp Fiction was because it was entertaining and I loved the characters and dialogue. But I can also see Pulp is not the pinnacle of Tarantinos cinema work. Its really just the beginning. Kill Bill Vol 1 is QTs cinematic ideas (direction, visuals, action & music) unleashed and going for broke. Thats why its a better film than Pulp. Im not the only one who sees that Im sure.
I keep repeating this, but True Cinema is not about dialogue and YACK YACK YACK its about telling the story through purely visual and audible terms. Thats what Kill Bill is. Even QT stated the purest form of cinema is Visual-ACTION cinema. He accomplished the goal with Kill Bill Vol 1. He topped himself.
Also, if your not a true QT fan, why are you even on this board? The Dogs/Pulp Fiction days are over man. Its 2003. QT has moved on. So havent most of us QT fans. Ya gotta go with the flow or get flushed down the toilet.
