Movies you'd like to see Tarantino make

Pete, dude, calm down… you’ll give yourself high blood pressure, sir.

I know you gave me proof with that QT quote. My confusion isn’t with you, it’s with his answer. If what he said is the case, my brain’s about to explode. That has nothing to do with you. I am not attacking the messenger. I’m confused with the author. Need I remind you, QT is the author.

The only big thing I ever disagreed with you is when you would let other people offer up exploitation films and you would knock them down because YOU didn’t think they were exploitation films. I just felt like they were coming to you with gems and you were knocking them down because you didn’t approve of their choice. I know it’s in the past, but it can still irritate me.

I am not, repeat not, picking a fight with you.

I know in this world there is always someone who knows more than I do. Too bad so far I haven’t gotten to a discussion like that with you.

That could be cool.

I’m calm. Im just a little miffed.

I dont think anyone besides Bleach offered to a review a film I didnt consider “Grindhouse” , that was Christine. I know its Horror which is exploitation, but I just dont look at it as a Grindhouse type film. If you guys feel that strongly about it, Ill add it in there. But I doubt he even cares about it now.

I have a cut off to how far I want to go with the site. I decided to stop the film coverage around the time most of the Grindhouses were closing. Thats like the mid to late 80s Id say. I really dont want to cover straight to video stuff. Its just the stuff from the older Drive-In/Grindhouse Era.

I never said I knew more than anyone, but I do think I have a good basic knowledge of movies. I havent seen every single kind of movie, but Ive seen a good amount.

Dude, I know what you want to cover. Like I said before, I understand. It’s your site, you cover what your wanna cover.

Yes it was the Christine thing primarily that irritated me. But I know it’s in the past. I was just replying to something you said before and I was just putting in a playful jab because of it. I wasn’t expecting you to take it to heart so badly, but I was remiss.

You were jumping down my throat back there a little bit, almost like, “How dare you call my film knowledge into question!”

You get miffed too easily.

No Im not even that upset, I guess my writing made it seem like I am jumping around but Im cool. You just had this tone like you were disagreeing to get a rise out of me. I mean if you want to disagree with QTs concepts of his own movies, thats fine. I just dont understand what the big deal is. I dont get irritated by stuff like that myself.

And I stand by the title of my site 100%. I mean Ive read books, watched interviews, listened to guys like QT himself that claim Grindhouses were where people went to see wild, crazy outrageous exploitation films. I mean, they didnt call their film Grindhouse in tribute to Gone With The Wind and Star Wars. It was in tribute to stuff by guys like Roger Corman, Bert I. Gordon, Richard Rush, Dario Argento, Russ Meyer, Sergio Martino, Lucio Fulci, etc. Basically all the guys that are covered in The Deuce.

I want to put that BS to bed. Grindhouse Cinema Database is a totally correct name for it. Its not something thats misrepresented.

It confuses me what he said because it doesn’t make any possible sense. How can a fictional character, in the movie movie universe, break out of the cinema and join the real world of universe 1? It’s just like when QT told me he loved the remake of Psycho more than the original, because he felt it was more “real.” Also, that he wasn’t much of a Hitchcock fan and his fave Hitchcock film was Torn Curtain, but with the Herrmann soundtrack. I must have had a glazed look on my face when he told me that. I mean, I have nothing against the Psycho remake, it was a great experiment, but come on. And I usually agree with Quentin.

Dude, drop it with the Deuce. I’m cool with it. It’s a cool title. Don’t be bummed because of what I said.

Well if you are a writer/director isnt it up to you to establish whats true/not true for your films? QT explained it all but you still have this disbelief like it cannot happen. Well, theyre movies, they arent real life, so it CAN happen if QT wants it too. Theres no rules in cinema that say you cant have characters that can live in two film universes. Its strange but thats how he designed it. I dont know what else to say.

As far as Hitchcock, Im actually like QT in that respect. While I love a few of Hitch’s films (Rear Window is prob my favorite) Im more of a DePalma fan when it comes to the psychological thrillers. Its just my personal preference. I know Hitch is a pioneer of the cinematic language but that doesnt mean I have to like all his movies. And I know about the DePalma-Hitch connection. I just enjoy DePalma’s films more.

This last argument was quite like a Dungeons and Dragons or Pokemon battle…

wtf?

Kilgore: Dude, why do you even get involved in stuff that has nothing to do with you? STFU. Go play with your kids or something. You dont have any reason to even be in here.

Yes, it’s definitely strange.

You’re telling me a character in a movie movie universe can venture into the real universe and hang out as the same character he was in the other universe?

I look at it like this: Dude, I was chillin with the gunslinger. You know, from the Stephen King book series. He came out of the books. Yeah, serious. You wanna meet him? He’s here at my house. Stop over.

Pete, it;s just like what you said about Hitchcock, knowing his place in film history but not lovin’ him unconditionally. I love QT’s film, love them, and respect him more than most filmmakers, but I just can’t agree with him there.

So far there’s only 3 things I don’t agree with him about.

Ok…this “real world” vs. “movie world” argument is so fucking lame. What does it have to do with movies that you’d like to see QT make? What does it have to do with anything? From an outsider’s point of view it looks like two fucking dweebs fighting over whether paper beats rock or rock beats scissors…except the level of dweebdom has advanced far beyond even something as dweebish as dungeons and dragons or pokemon…“my dad can beat up your dad” is what I’m expecting to hear next.

so Pete…why don’t you shut the fuck up.

Mike: I think QT looks at guys like The Wolf and Earl McGraw as characters that are larger than life, but still based on reality. So they have some ability to jump back and forth. Hey, if you ever talk to QT again you should tell him that annoys you. I cant do anything about it. I just go with it and I actually think its a fun/cool idea.

Kilgore: Sorry that noones paying attention to ya today lil guy. We’re actually discussing movies here not manure farming. Its something you wouldnt understand.

Kilgore, I was dying! That’s awesome! The paper and rock thing, man, I was dying laughing. No, you’re right, it’s stupid to be quibbling about stuff like that in this forum. Now, maybe in a different forum…

Pete, real quick, I can’t just go with that, for some reason it would just make me feel like I was a mindless automoton.

And to think I was just trying to give some helpful info about the stupid fuckin Universe theory. Jeeezus.

Mike Madsen is also great in that. He has that certain air of menace that he rules at creating.
