Hostel Part II (2007)

this is the second release, im pretty sure. In the U.S. anyway.

I’ve seen a single disc, a two-disc and now this. I think I’ll wait till 2010, when the sixth Hostel DVD will be out, which will have a torture-your-least-favorite-celebrity-feature-complete-with-fake-blood.

That’s actually really funny, Dante. I don’t know where you’re from, or if you were only joking, but over here there’s only a one disc HOSTEL dvd currently. In most cases, when there’s a sequel to a flick, the studio promoting it will release a big deal version of the original as part of its marketing scheme. So what Lionsgate is doing is normal for a studio. And if you are outside the US and you do have a 2-disc HOSTEL, it’s probably what we’re going to be getting in the coming months, so you have nothing more to wait for. You’ve got what we don’t. A lot of times, that’s what happens. It happened with the special edition 2 disc Leone movies we just got recently. They were released overseas first.

I’m from Norway, and there’s only one version here (the standard). But they had a two-disc edition in London, where I went a couple of weeks ago. Here’s a link to that: <LINK_TEXT text=“http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/re … php?id=473”>http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/reviewsnews.php?id=473</LINK_TEXT>

It came with a plastic package around it that looks like a prison cell with bars, so the cover on the link above becomes the inside of the cell.

Well actually a couple of months ago Roth was talking about coming out with a two disc of hostel, I posted it on this thread somewhere.

Did you ever think that this is the one Eli was talking about?

I dont think so.

Found it to be fairly shallow compared to Hostel 1 (yes i found hidden depths in it but lets not open that can of worms again)…but overall it was entertaining stuff and like many have said it is bound to become an exploitation classic. The chick bathing on the other chicks blood scene really freaked me out big time…ehhhh. a different and completely more ridicoulous tone than was present in the first one but still decent! 7/10

yea i agree with you all the way blue lou 7/10 here too.

Did you guys know that Hostel actually got a 20+ rating in Norway? There’s not really a 20+ rating, it only goes to 18. It even says so on the back cover: “Age rating: 20 years”. It was a promotional gimmick, which makes it even weirder considering it never was on cinema here. Which is also very weird, considering it’s huge success.

hahaahaa 20+ it really wasn’t that violent compared to other films, maybe it was the nudity that put it over the top.

Yeah I know, it was just promotion. Even Eli Roth and Tarantino claimed it to be the sickest (or one of the sickest) movies ever made, even though both knew that it wasn’t.

That’s usually the way you sell an exploitation film.

Speaking of exploitation, what the hell is that in your avatar, Jjp? It looks like he’s saying “meow”. Which I pretty much doubt he does.

its from the great film hellraiser.

He’s saying “Jeeesussss wept”, which is a bit different from “Meow”

I loved Hellraiser, It’s one of the first horror movies I saw (along with some hitchcock movies and the Halloween movies). I should buy it on dvd and watch it again.

yea part 2 is equally as good. 3 is good also but you have to get the unrated vhs version not the R rated dvd, it makes a huge difference in the film. The rest of the sequels are not in the usual hellraiser fashion but i enjoyed them.

Hellraiser 3 has always kind of pissed me off. As soon as the rights were sold to Dimension (and Paramount, to distribute, at the time) the films lost their edge. I like to think that the series ended at the end of Hellbound: Hellraiser II, when the face on the rack said to the movers, “What is your pleasure, sir?” If Dimension hadn’t ruined Hellraiser: Bloodline, it may have changed my mind. But alas…

Back to HOSTEL: PART II

How do you know QT and Eli thought that it wasn’t as sick as they related it to be? Eli’s been pretty confident about the penis tear at the end of the flick. The shock worked, all right? I know it worked on me. That freaked me the fuck out.

yea well that goes the same for the friday the 13th series too. i mean yea i enjoyed JGH and Jason x but there nothing like the original series, fvj blows.
