I saw Carradine on Kilborn last night. He was sitting there looking like a old prune. I thought to my self, can this motherfuck even stand up on his own?. Ahhh but wait, he had a cool surprise behind his seat. He display two beautiful swords, one that he used in Kill Bill sword and the other an O.G. hand crafted samurai sword. Anyway, he got up for a little sword demo w/ Kilborn. Kilborn pitched him a melon, then watermelon, old guy has some skills. He looked very graceful and smooth silcing through those melons in mid flight. GREAT CHOICE, CAN’T WAIT TILL’ VOL 2 .

David Carradine was at the London Expo this past weekend. David answered questions regarding his experience on Kill Bill and working with Tarantino. Here is a tidbit:

(David refering about Tarantino) he said, “He’s the most fun director to work with - His imagination is really fertile and he’s not afraid to take risks”.

David Carradine will be at the Midwest Entertainment Conference in Lexington, KY going on from November 13-16.

David is going to be the Independent Film Keynote Speaker.

If anyone is going to be at that conference who is interested in the entertainment industry, it would be interesting to learn just what David had to say.

<–This crazy ass movie was my 1st experience with Carradine, was it yours?

Nope. I’ve watched his movies and his TV shows for years. His most famous and recognizable role is Kwai Chang Caine, a Shaolin Priest. Quite a departure from his role in Kill Bill. But David has always played excellent villains in the past. His role in Bird on a Wire was excellent.

I’ve also met him in person when he hosted two workshops on kung fu, tai chi, and chi gung up at the Omega Institute, near Rhinebeck NY. It’s about 2-3 hours from NYC. He is really a down to earth person. He is also an excellent speaker and he tells a great stories. If you really want to know more about David Carradine’s career, you can find more at my website

There is more to David than people realize. He’s not this washed up actor getting a second chance, though some people would perceive him as such just because he’s not had a major Hollywood role for a long time. He’s been in the public eye, but not in the way people expect. He’s been considerd by Hollywood as a radical because he wanted to make is own independent films long before independent films became popular. Americana is one of those films that he directed and starred in himself. I think he might have even written the screen play as well.

He also wrote an autobiography called Endless Highway. You can sometimes find copes of it floating around eBay or at Amazon.com. He also produced several martial arts workout videos, and three books regarding martial arts. Two companion books for two of his workout videos and a book called Spirit of Shaolin that his sifu at the time encouraged him to write.

Seriously check him out. You will be quite surprised at what you find.

I saw the images from ComingSoon.com. WOW! I LOVED The one with David and the Bride, with them both “crossing” swords. Gorgeous shot! And I loved the fact that David was BARE FOOTED. As Caine he was often walking around in bare feet, and even when he wasn’t working, you might find him in his bare feet more often then you would find him in a pair of shoes. In his earlier days, he would go to interviews in bare feet. He’s just more comfortable that way. I can’t wait for Vol 2. I just bet the scenes with David are going to be AWESOME!!!

How did I miss that article. That was fantastic! Now I can’t wait more than ever to see David in action. Tarantino will MAKE HIS STAR SHINE! If I was in LA, I’d go down and polish his Star on the Walk of Fame! And yes he does have a star. I would love to have a photo of that some day. David was honored with his star for Kung Fu in 1997. Read how stars are honored.
when i first saw the film, i didnt realize that the long haird guy was bill,i expected some really bad ass looking guy. . . .
Warren Beatty was the original choice. Although he obviously doesn’t know martial arts, for some reason, he sort of has the look of how I always imagined Bill to be.

But Carradine is also a great choice. And just his mention in Pulp Fiction makes it really cool.

Carradine was the only choice in my opinion. Warren Beatty is a fat, cheesy clown. He couldn’t act if his life depended on it.

It’s only when Carradine got offered the role that I really knew this flick was going to be special.
<–This crazy ass movie was my 1st experience with Carradine, was it yours?
First I saw was Americana (leading role, director, script), maybe one million years ago and I love it. When I saw it I don´t know his name and how hard it was to make it. I think that he is the right choice for being Bill. I read Endless Highway (you know, QT did); it is hard to believe that this is really his live, it is too crazy… I saw Long Riders twice and like it. That many people speak about his role in Bird of the wire, sorry, I can´t understand, cuz I see there nothing special. Sometimes he is a fucking good actor, somtimes he made things for his heard and somtimes he made it for the money. But the only thing in which i am interested is, that he is good in KB, cuz I hope that a huge bunch of people will see KB 2. Then QT has enough mony for IB and more fucking good movies… ;D

He had long hair when he played Kwai Chang Caine. That’s part of his charm. I’ve seen him with short hair. It just doesn’t fit his personaility. He’s always been thought of a radical in Hollywood, and any movie that he has ever made, desbite it’s quality, he always had one scene where his acting abilities shined through. Hollywood ignored David because he didn’t play by their rules. He wanted to make his own films when independent film making was still in its infancy.

Yes, his life was rather a hard one, a challenging one, and not often a happy one. He lived when he should have died, and yet he continues to be around. I think the world is going to get an eye full, and the bigwigs in Hollywood are going to eat their words when they see the rest of Kill Bill. David Carradine will be back!

“When you can snatch the pebble from my hand it will be time for you to leave”

Did you all knew that David Carradine had a role in Lizzie Mcguire. He played a kung fu master. He helped making a kung fu movie in that episode.

Yeah, one of his 3 brothers plays the father of L. McGuire.

D. Carradine played in one episode, but he also directed one episode. Think 2001 or 2000?

Btw, his craziest role was in Death Race 2000. made in the year 1975, producer: Roger Corman…

A race from coast to coast, winner: the drive who has the highest score (for killing people)

I´m pretty sure, that I´m the only one who saw it…

Did you see the sequel Deathsport? Where he plays a range guide? He’s got a beard in that one and he looks a little like Chuck Norris. I’ve got both Deathrace and Deathsport. You can still find them on eBay. In fact you can find alot of David’s old movies on eBay. Some of them are some of the worst movies imaginable, and he doesn’t always play the lead character. Even so, when you watch them, obviously you can see David’s acting ability is the only thing that’s carrying the film. the poor lighting, cinematography, and scripts will never win these films Oscars, but David is the only good thing about these films.

To see David’s early works with a sword, get “The Sword and Sorcerous,” “Wizards of the Lost Kingdon II,” and “Dune Warriors.” In SS he actually learned how to swordfight with is LEFT hand because during shooting, he shattered the bones in his right hand. You would not have known he had ever done that today. He was also lucky to get full mobility back in that hand because the doctor that worked on him was a semi-retired Argentine who was the top specialist in his field at the time. He repaired David’s hand so well, that to this day, you cannot even tell that it had even been broken.

Well, I´m interested in seeing Serpents egg, but in Germany i can´t find it. Do you know someone, who wanna sell it?

You might check on eBay as I mentioned. They will often have items that are marked from Germany. His videos are getting harder and harder to find, but some of them are starting to come out on DVD. Serpent’s Egg is one of his better works. His acting was supreme. It’s one that really deserved a great deal more attention than it got.
