I was looking at my DVD collection and noticed I probably have one of weirdest taste in movies. I have everything from all of the Tarantino movies to the Coen brothers The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Me, Fargo, etc. to Rocky… then I look and I see I have Adventures in Babysitting (I loved that movie as a kid), Heavyweights (the kids movie from the '90s, again I loved it as a kid), Little Monsters, Drillbit Taylor, Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, Friday the 13th, etc.
I mean it’s not so much weird it’s just… that some of the movies are so different. I really don’t have a “favorite” anything.
Anyone else have a weird interest in movies?

Don’t pull off the “I am so special for my “weird” taste in movies” card in here. Save that shit for the tourists or post on imdb. Which is basically the same activity
Yeah I think everyone here has the same taste in movies somewhat. It’s a Tarantino board. What else would you expect.

Though I ask myself sometimes how many people do have “The Sound of Music”, “Smokey and the Bandit”, Nazisploitation and Arthouse together in their DVD collection, like I do? Mondo Cannibale standing next to “Le Mepris”, “Missing in Action” next to Jim Jarmusch?
I’ve been called crazy and stupid over my taste in movies many times on this board. Not all Tarantino Fans are the same. They have a great variety from puberty-riddled insecure teen all the way to full-blown film snob.

maybe, and I wish I’d know more people who dig all kinds of stuff, and not just 2 or 3 genres. Most women I know hate action and horror, for example.

Haha!
I say this line like 5 times a day, so it made me laugh to see someone else use it for some reason.
I say it to one of my roommates all the time, but she’s actually crazy.

I completely agree. I have Ernest Scared Stupid next to 2001: A Space Odyssey, and I’m not gloating about it.
You guys are so… :o
If it ain’t Disney/Pixar, it ain’t me.

[/quote]Well, I liked a song that was featured on the Titan A.E. soundtrack. Cosmic Castaway by Electrasy. A shame that band never seemed to catch on with people.
Truth be told, I haven’t seen one of those new-fangled 3D cartoon movies since the original Toy Story. Not even Shrek. Was goofing in that last post. I figure if you’re a devoted Tarantino fan, your tastes in film ought to be pretty eclectic. I know I originally signed up here because it was so interesting finding someone who shared my tastes in film (Quinton)… well, that and the Kill Bill script was floating around here back in those days ;D
My taste in movies could vary from Kids to Exploitation and everything in between. So do I have a weird taste in movies? Yeah sure, who doesn’t.
I can watch Kung Fu Hustle over and over…but can’t explain why
It’s a Quentin Tarantino board. A director who is famous for his low- and highculture mixture in his movies. Besides aren’t we all children of the postmodern age where high and low culture go hand in hand? So none of the lists in this topic surprised me really…
And I think that nobody on this board hates the movies that Crazy Kenneth loves. I think most people don’t agree with the rating he gives in comparison to other movies he rates. Objectivity is something that isn’t in his ratingrange, which is cool with me. Gives some new views to discuss the movies

Crazy Kenneth hates classics before he even watches them, so that he can give a negative rating afterwards and everyone would think “Holy god, this guy is so avant garde. He’s like the Che Guevara of movie critics!” It’s called reverse psychology.

haha, great analysis Dr. Freud. I rate a film soley by how much I enjoy it. That’s it. So sometimes a piece that is considered a classic may get a low rating, yes. But I love many many classics, and certainly do NOT hate them before I see them. I am not rating movies to draw attention to myelf, appear superior, or any other shit like that.
