Who else has a weird taste in movies?

I know this isn’t what this topic is even about, but recently I “discovered” this black American director from the silent period called Oscar Micheaux. And as soon as I found him, I was like, “holy shit, a black silent film director!” I get really excited by obscure film discoveries like that, more excited than the latest blockbuster. I love finding stuff like that.

Anyway, that’s what I was thinking when I saw the title to this thread.

A black silent film director? that’s like finding teeth on a hen!

I hate Kenneths “oh look at me and my broad film taste” bullshit. You forgot to add the genre called PORN!

btw i’ve never heard/read you talk about

Silent films/Buster Keaton/Harold Lloyd

Early talkies

Bergman films

Westerns

1950’s B Films

Marylin Monroe movies

1940’s musicals

Fellini

English films

 • so how broad can your film taste be?

Porn? I don’t like porn that much. I don’t think of porn when I think of movies. Porn is 4-12 minute clips on internet sites to me.

Just because I haven’t talked about some genres and subgenres or even if I have never seen films from that genre doesn’t mean my film taste is any less broad then it is. It’s just I’ve never met anybody who can enjoy all kinds of different genres from lowest low brow to high brow like me, that’s all.

Most of those are pretty suburban multiplex or retro- suburban multiplex, aren’t they? Not really all that wierd.

I like any flix with dykes, bikes, sadists, or the word Mondo in the title. And a few other exotic beasts.

what does that mean?

I don’t live in the US, a multiplex to me is a cinema that only plays the newest movies.

ever watch 70’s porn?, they have a story, kinda.
It’s a Quentin Tarantino board. A director who is famous for his low- and highculture mixture in his movies. Besides aren’t we all children of the postmodern age where high and low culture go hand in hand? So none of the lists in this topic surprised me really…
Have you spent much time here? Topics turn into just about any type of conversation, but that is human conversation.

Bland. Vanilla. Right off the shelf at Blockbuster.

Wierd is something you have to hunt for, for months…years. Just to get a crappy bootleg copy. And then it gives you a migraine just watching it. And you still enjoy it.

I love 70s porn, and 60s is even better. Annie Sprinkle, Georgina Spelvin. Everything was so hairy and real. Not like these little overshaved Teletubbies they have in today’s stuff. Most of them can’t even throat a sixer.

yeah well I often times like those too, but they are not in my fav. movies list. All that exploitation/horror/C-movie/bizarre stuff is not in my top 100.

I don’t know anybody who enjoys Invasion U.S.A as much as Amélie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as much as About Schmidt. “weird” to me is not really liking weird movies, but loving movies that are totally different.

Maybe I know too many Average Joe moviegoers and not any true movie lovers, then I’m not so special after all, lol.

I have never seen a whole one, but i read alot and seen “Clips” and making ofs, Paul Thomas Anderson got me interested in the behind the scenes stuff of the porn industry, I think it’s quite interesting.

You should read a book called The Other Hollywood: The Uncensored Oral History of the Porn Film Industry. It’s basically just a huge collection of interviews from porn insiders and outsiders and the interview bits are intersected together to form storylines. It’s a very good read, it has a story about two FBI agents infiltrating the porn business with the intent of bringing it down, that could actually make a pretty good movie.

Check out Rated X with Emilio Estevez And Charlie Sheen.

According to my online time, my postcount and my membership since 2003, yes, I have spent a lot of time here…I am sure that most people will get what I meant with that post on here…the ones that don; t should educate themselves

I’m well over over 18 and never seen a full porn. I tend to hit stop shortly after I nut. Thought that was normal.
