Which one did you prefer?

I liked both of them. They both were totally different then i thought they would. quentins fil all built up to the end which was unusual for me.

It seems like Rodriguez got his entire writing style from QT. Only its not as good. It has moments, but its just RR doing his version of QT dialogue or something.
No that was Rodriguez quentin may have helped him but Rob didnt copy his style. Rodriguez isnt a very dialectic person, and I didnt see much dialouge in his movie.

I keep flip flopping. I saw it again today and really enjoyed DP. It does seem more like a real grindhouse flick where PT did not, at all.

But, having QT write part of RR’s script…would that make him look bad in a way? As in…“I’m not the writer/director you thought I was afterall.”? LoL
I think that both of them need each other. QT has always done well while using others peoples work and as a team I think they both shine.

Now, Im off to get my dick wet.

I agree with you, Kingpin. They MUST exist together

I think RR is definitely apeing QTs stuff. The GOOD stuff that is. The stuff thats flat is RR. haha.

Lol.

Well RR is doing Sin City 2 next which is good. Frank Miller pwns.

Why does any one insult RR? He is one talented son of a bitch. He writes, directs, scores the music, edits the film, ect ect. No one else can do all that!

John Carpenter can! ;D

But really, Robert’s a cool dude. No hatin’ from me.

Did anyone else hate the scene in DP where the second set of girls are talking about falling in the ditch? I realize this bit is somewhat needed to set up a later scene but I can’t decide if it was written badly on purpose or if the dialog just plain sucked. I hope it was meant to be bad because its just plain awful.

I didn’t think it was bad…

I didnt hate ANYTHING in Death Proof. I loved that story because it was REAL. That happened to Zoe when she was in Beijing doing Kill Bill. The 7 minute long take was also awesome.

I like Robert but just because someone does all diff aspects of filmmaking doesnt automatically mean Im gonna love ALL their work. Yes hes talented, but he still isnt QT. I’m a QT fan first. And I dont hate Robert.

I doubt he’d write deliberately shit dialogue. This is actually one of my fears, a lot of people are saying that his dialogue in DP is quite shit, I hope I like it, otherwise my fears will have come true. I mean I didn’t like some of the dialogue in Volume 2 (What the fuck was up with the pregnancy test dialogue?), and I kept saying to myself that he’d improve in the next film. Now it seems that although he does have some great dialogue in DP, he also has some shit dialogue. That isn’t cool. I hope to God QT isn’t falling off dialogue-wise.

I wouldn’t worry about it Ify.

Death Proof, easily. I enjoyed Planet Terror but the car scenes in Death Proof were just amazing.

So it happened to Zoe? Its still written badly. (she fell in a ditch? Not very interresting) The rest was really good for the most part but that part felt like it was written by a first year film student. I almost thought it was ad libed at first. I still loved the movie because it still had that bad movie vibe. I was a little let down by the car chases but the end was the pay off.

After watching the movies again yesterday i do like DP a little better because it really felt like a 70’s flick but both movies are far from their best efforts. I have to admit im not a fan of most of the b movie tripe. There are a few I love, mainly in the blaxploitation department, so others will like this more than me. I do love DP, dont get me wrong, there just are a few points I did not like and I have no problem admiting it.

I really didnt have a problem with any of the dialogue in the diner scene. I actually enjoyed it alot because it made me laugh like when Lee called Zoe an Aussie, The Pretty In Pink comment, Zoe talking about Vanishing Point and Kim’s gun speech. You really got to know those characters personalites in that long take.

I liked both of them but i enjoyed Planet Terror more than Deth Proof

Planet Terror is a cool Rodriguez Flick. I got what I expected.

Death Proof is different. I loved the first half of the script, and maybe the “stand -alone” DP-Version will kick ass like in the script. But I can’t imagine that the second half ever will work. You cannot fill up 60 minutes with Zoe Bell and some stunts.

Just my two €-Cents

I don’t think my mind will ever be swayed one way or another…

So I prefer GRINDHOUSE.

death proof allthough they are 2 differant genre films.
