Those two idiot reviewers didn’t even get Tarantino’s name right LOL. The only thing that pissed me off was that their massive ignorance has been the cause of the rating goin’ down. I take back whatever I previously said about the tomameter. ::slight_smile:

MY REVIEW, BEWARE OF SPOILERS!!!

OHMIGAWD THAT MOVIE KICKED ASS!!! I love Elle Driver. my friend that was watching it in the end of “Elle and I"she might’ve been blind, or bit by a snake… but I kinda doubt it. You know that movie, about the  samurai that is blind(I think his name was “Ino”) who fights with his sense of hearing, I think that’ll happen to Elle Driver, and the question mark…who knows?

THE BEST SCENES:

BEATRIX’S REUNION WITH HER DAUGHTER- I read one of the reviews, and the reporter said that he didn’t like the fact that Beatrix’s reaction to B.B. at first sight. He says that she looked too happy…BULL! She was happy and crying at the same time!!!

THE MASSACRE AT TWO PINES Great scene between the Bride and Bill!!

ELLE AND I WOW!! AWESOME!! GREAT FIGHT SCENE!! AND ELLE DESERVED HER REVENGE, I feel sorryfor her, and Think it’s kind of hilarious at the same time…aww, Elle, I still love ya, baby, even if ya are blind ( and ur shiny eyepatch is nifty!!

BEATRIX VS. BILL I love Bill! It was a beautiful ending to the final fight!!

HILARIOUS SCENES

” i…overreacted…"

"…you overreacted??“

AND WHEN BEATRIX CRAWLS OUT OF THE PAULA SHULZ GRAVE AND ORDERS WATER. ÂÂ

BILL’S FIGHT WITH B.B.

BEATRIX VS. KAREN WONG

”…congratulations…"

And Karen reading the instructions ÂÂ

A FEW REGRETS:

QUENTIN CUTTING THE MICHAEL J. WHITE SCENE ÂÂ

THE CRUEL TUTELEGE OF PEI MEI SHOULDA BEEN LONGER…

Other than that, no regrets…

It’s a good thing Quentin cut the Yuki scene…it was…outta place

Ummm…so do I think this as as good as Pulp Fiction? No…I think it’s BETTER. It blew PF outta the freakin’ water… ÂÂ

HEAVEN AND HELL Rating: A :o :o :o :o

A Kill Bill Volume 2 Review

Review by Pete Roberts

Volume 2 is definitely different than Volume 1 in tone and mood. Whereas Volume 1 was a slam bang bloody rampage, Volume 2 is longer in running time and is much more about character interaction and getting to the heart of the story of The Bride. If you realize that while watching you won’t be dissapointed. If you go in expecting another Volume 1, just get ready for more emotion and dialogue thats closer to Jackie Brown than any other QT film so far. QT shows hes the undisputed ringmaster of emotion. Hes also a master of black comedy and Volume 2 shows that in SPADES.

For me, the first chapter of Kill Bill Volume 2 entitled Massacre At Two Pines sets the emotional tone for the rest of the film. For the first 15 minutes I was literally getting goosebumps. It seemed as if I was watching a spaghetti western/film noir. Completely dropping the ultra colorful Grindhouse edge of Volume 1. Its almost as if QT has gone beyond the Grindhouse genre with Volume 2. The roots of Kill Bill may be Grindhouse cinema, but Volume 2 is the top of the tree, the delicious fruit we havent yet tasted.

We rejoin The Bride before she was shot in the head by Bill (David Carradine) and its a slow burn with some great acting work by Bo Svenson as Reverend Harmony, Sam Jackson as Rufus (He’s The Man) and Chris Nelson as Tommy Plympton The Brides future husband to be. Massacre at Two Pines mixes eerie emotion between Bill and The Bride with some laughs. When The DiVAS make their entrance I got a chill. The closing shot will have you feeling shocked and saddened.

The Lonely Grave of Paula Schultz is a very dark eerie chapter, but its funny too. Its gritty and it is very Fulci-esque. We meet Bill’s younger brother Budd aka Sidewinder (Michael Madsen) who after departing from the DiVAS has a shitty job as a strip clun bouncer. The Bride tries to bushwhack Budd at his trailer home, but to her (and our) surprise, brother Budd is expecting her. The next few minutes of the film are some of the most disturbing scenes QT has done so far. Budd and his creepy stubby armed crony Ernie put The Bride in a box and they dont plan on shipping her anywhere. Its really very effective the way he shoots it. The sounds, the visuals are shock inducing. If youre claustrophobic you may want to go to the snack bar during this one!

The Cruel Tutelage of Pai Mei: We join The Bride and Bill Once Upon a Time in China where Bill tells The Bride the story of the ancient kung fu master. Bill drops The Bride off at Pai Meis temple and thus begans her martial arts training at the hands of the supernatural master. I loved the look of this chapter. It was very much a Shaw Brothers film directed by QT. With a laugh and a stroke of his beard Pai Mei taunts, beats and ultimately teaches The Bride to be a true master of kung fu styles. I do wish there was more time spent in this chapter. It was a blast to see Gordon Liu take over the film the way he does. Awright Gordon!

I totally laughed loud, then I read who it was from: Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat…

Mary Ann walking out of the theatre after seeing Kill Bill…

Mary:" That was horrible! All that ultraviolence!“

Frederic:” Yes, Dear!“

Mary:” You go and you write a bad review and paste it on the net for all to see!“

Frederic:” Yes, Dear! Right away, dear!"

yeesh, can we say Clockwork Orange-lacking?

KMarshall, feminist-loving female that loves Kill Bill!

(cont)

Elle and I: If you thought she was mean in Volume 1, you aint seen nothin yet! In Volume 2 we see just how rotten to the core Elle Driver aka California Mountain Snake really is. She meets up with Budd at his trailer home in Barstow, CA with a special gift in return for Budd’s newly aqquired Hanzo sword (wink). After dispatching Budd with a Black Mamba snake, The Bride and Elle meet up and its SUPER CAT FIGHT TIME! You havent seen one like this on celluloid in awhile. If you love the catfights in Switchblade Sisters, Coffy and The Big Bird Cage, THIS ONES FOR YOU!! You’ll see brutal, bone crunching Grindhouse knock down beatings, toilet swimming, bodily fluids flying, walls crashed down and an eye popping climax that will have you giggling in horror the way QT can only do it to you!

Final Chapter aka FACE TO FACE: The last part of Kill Bill is probably the furthest out QT has gone into drama thus far. Its very much about The Bride and Bill and how each of them percieved what and why Bill tried to kill her in the first place. The Bride travels to Mexico to find Bill. But first she must stop and get directions from one of Bill’s many Mentors Esteban Viejo (played by Michael Parks in his second role). The Bride chats with Esteban at his grungy whore cantina and he gives The Bride Bill’s wherabouts. The entire rest of the film takes place at Bill’s Villa and its about reconciling and coming to terms with the events that both The Bill and The Bride have been through. Theres also a little surprise for The Bride in the form of someone named BB who loves watching Shogun Assassin before bedtime. The final few minutes of this chapter is QT at his most thoughtful and heartfelt.

As one complete film this will be one of the greatest Revenge movies ever made, if not THE best. Quentin Tarantino has shown he can do it all with Kill Bill. Hes the rollercoaster guy who turns the switches and fucks with us ALL. Hes not letting us get off this ride until we’re ALL SHOOK UP!

The music: You will LOVE the music QT uses in this film. In the first film the music was used perfectly, and in Volume 2 the music is used to build suspense and crank up the emotional scenes to 11. QT uses Ennio Morricone scores from spaghetti westerns like: Navajo Joe, The Mercenary and The Good The Bad and The Ugly to give that special feeling especially for us movie geeks. Theres also great music by Johnny Cash, Charlie Feathers, Malcom McLaren remix, Shivaree, Luis Bacalov and more.

(Look for visual references to: Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns (duh), Lucio Fulci (eyes eyes EYES), Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Mr Majestyk, Apocalypse Now (see if you can spot it), Carrie (back from the dead!), Shaw Brothers films, Shogun Assassin and more)

Go see Volume 2 and Enjoy!

All i can say is, I can die a happy man now.

Me too, man, me fuckin too. ;D

Volume 2 was beyond incredible, comparing it to volume 1 is rather difficult and time consuming, so I won’t do it. All I have to say is the dialogue was amazing as well as the action… I was pleasantly surprised with the changes from the original script… and I hope it’s positive showing at the box office will convince Tarantino to take less time between projects.

best review yet from what ive seen: <LINK_TEXT text=“http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2004/04/07/k … view.shtml”>BBC - Films - Kill Bill: Volume 2</LINK_TEXT>

this person understands and appreciates kill bill as a whole.

i think the main thing that rubs me the wrong way with vol.2 is the final chapter. i really thought the final chapter was boring. i just feel like putting such a slow ending on this movie made it anti climatic. and what the fuck is up with the truth serum? just when i started to accept the fact that QT was going for something dramatic out comes the truth serum. i remember thinking “truth serum, how fucking gay is that”. im sure someone has to agree with me about that being ridiculous and about the movie ending on a whimper.

personally, i think that whole thing brings out the true emotional heart-stabbingness of the movie. at first, i didn’t know why bill did what he did at all. i thought he was just pissed that beatrix left the DiVAS, but we come to find out that he had his heart broken. this is the part that left me the most speechless because i felt terrible for bill. he got his heart broken by the woman he loves, she marrys some other dude and tries to be someone she isnt, and then to top it off, bill cares for her child while still giving beatrix a good rap.he truly loves her, but like bill said, “there are concequences to breaking the heart of a murdering bastard”. this brings up the main question im going to bring up in part 2 of my review - who’s the real bad guy?

yeah, maybe the whole “truth serum” thing is a little corny, but that’s pure tarantino at work if you ask me.

hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and that’s true. how would it be possible for her to tell bill the truth without some form of truth serum of all things? we all know how women can be, and beatrix is one of the most difficult of all.

im going to be writing a part 2 of my review that i posted above which outlines the story and shit the way i see it… i’ll post here when its online

Ok, I saw it. Now before I say how incredible this movie was like everyone else, lemme mention the things about vol.2 that dissaopointed me, because my hopes were extremely high.

-because the movie went out of order, I expected more screentime for Lucy Lui and Vivica, because I love them. Bah.

-the Michael Jai White (Spawn) vs. Bill scene was cut, what the fuck??

-Beatrix doesn’t kill anybody but Bill. Budd dies on his own and Elle doesn’t even get finished off.

-The mood of the film gets shot at the end with BB. The ending was a bit lame and kinda cheesy.

-ol’ Sammy needed a bigger cameo  >:(

-The Pai Mei scene was waaaaay too short. I wanted to see her progress into the strong fighter that she was. I wanted see why Pai Mei would trust her so much that he would teach her such moves as the “deadly five finger exploding heart technique”

-The ultimate final battle was way too short and anti-climatic. I don’t know if QT was doing it out of respect for some film, but I would’ve liked an “ultimate showdown.” And so would you. As much as you want to deny it.

-and my major gripe…THE SPLIT. This movie should’ve definitely been seen as one, because this movie just does not work as well in two seperate volumes. The style and mood of the two are so different, that expecting one or the other when seeing either volumes will draw dissapointments. This movie was not meant to be split. If it was just one movie, the mood would’nt have been changed and the transition between the two halves would have been nice and clean. But since those rich fucks split it, the volumes feel unbalanced. I am for sure keeping my money till the two volume deluxe edition dvd comes out.

I know these are a lot of complaints, but in general bad outweighs good as far as comments go. Despite this, I really enjoyed QT’s “5th” movie, and the dialogue was as good as everyone said it was. It kinda reminded me of Jackie Brown. Budd’s performance was surprising. I didn’t think Madsen would pull it off, considering he was a numbnut in Reservoir Dogs. Pai Mei’s performance was the best, and I couldnt help but laugh everytime he said something snappy or when he flicked his beard. At that part, you’re so into the movie you forget “meanwhile” Uma’s still in the coffin. That was the shining part of the movie when she busted out of the ground like a zombie, then, in a hysterical moment, she goes to a diner to ask for some water. Elle was bitch, and I loved it. Priceless scene, when she was reading “fun facts” about the Black Mamba as Budd was trembling from paralysis. She found an appropiate time to use the word “gargantuan.” Best fuckin cat fight ever between Elle and Beatrix. Shit yeah. And then ELLE GOT SERVED when her eyeball got plucked out. Elle was like “jesus christ! fuckin bitch! fuckin bitch! fuckin bitch!” Another priceless moment was when Karen Wong read the pregnancy test strip…hahaha she slowly backed up with her pointed shotgun and then said "congratulations"

Glad to finally see Kill Bill.

Kill Bill (as one fuckin movie)  10/10

Is it really his “5th” movie??? or is it the second half of his “4th” movie??? i aint having a go at you, im just wondering whether u think they are two films or one film. I can’t tell from your post because you say its his “5th” film and yet at the end you say “(Kill Bill as one fuckin movie)”!!
