[Vol 2] Kill Bill vol. 2 reviews here

No, the Shaw Brothers logo doesn’t appear at the beginning of the film. As a matter of fact there is no beginning. Just a little prologue and then your right into chapter 6.
A short showdown would be appropriate. It’s Leone-style. Looooong building to the climax. Short action. That’s it. Think of the trio in GBU. 5 minutes of cool music and camera-angles and at the end…just one shot.
Yes, but there might not be much of a build-up. That’s what I’m afraid of and maybe that’s why ppl are callin it anti-climactic.
If you know QT you know he will never play by the movie rule book. Thats one of the main reasons he chose a Revenge film to do this time. He always said how much he hates Revenge films that pussy out in the way they are done. Specifically when the revenge seeker doesnt kill the main villain with their own two hands. In Kill Bill, The Bride kills every victim by her hand, not by them falling on a rock or getting impaled by a sharp metal pike by accident. ÂÂ

But QT also loves films that fuck with the audience. For example when he was on Charlie Rose way back in 95, he said how much he loved DePalma’s Raising Cain which as he said was a “cinematic experiment on how NOT to satisfy an audience”.

So you will never get a QT film where things go by a movie rulebook, theres always gonna be some twist or joke or gimmick that fucks with us as an audience to see if we are really into it. Isnt that why we go see his films in the first place and love them so much? It is for me.
You’re absolutely right, brother!

This guy’s credibility is lacking. He gives The Fast And The Furious a B- while also giving Kill Bill Vol.2 a B-, so accordinging to his logic both films are equal.

That Fidelio guy jocked volume 1 seven ways to sunday in its RottenTomatoes forum.

Another review
Ok, I read it and this guy is dumb, because:

"Budd, it seems, was a diva (we had been led to believe that, except for Bill, the divas were all women); read that sentance aloud…

DiVAS= DEADLY VIPER ASASSINATION SQUAD… ya putz…

and THIS:            SPOILER****

“Budd expects the Bride to expire in her coffin, but another of the Vipers, Elle Driver (Daryl Hannah), shows up at the trailer and, for no good reason, humiliates Budd and kills him.”

That’s because she’s evil, ya moron!! ::slight_smile:

SPOILER

Elle killed Budd so that she would recuperate the shitload of money she spent for the Hanzo sword. More importantly, she could then blame Budd’s death on the Bride, making Bill hate the latter even more. I’m just remembering shit I read from the script a year ago, and I can still arrive to better conclusions than that sad excuse of a movie critic.

Wow, this review kinda got to me. This guy totally fell in love with V1 but was dissapointed with the second half.

Um, true, BUT: SPOILER

the reviewer said she killed him for no reason, but there is a reason ( like u just explained) Cuz Elle is a jealous Bitch… If you read the script, it shows that…

Kill Bill just got two negative reviews on the tomatometer, bringing the avrge down to 90%. ÂÂ

::crosses fingers for it to remain in the 90’s::

It was nice while it lasted. Looks at the Punisher, that has 9 rotten ;D

yesterday it went up to 92% now it’s at 89%

i thought this was a pretty uninspired review:

The nice thing about Rotten Tomatoes is that it separates the real film critics (cream of the crop) from the junk critics (the rest; radio or tv critics, junk websites, etc. who don’t write intelligently on film, just quick blurbs mostly cut and pasted from press notes).

Kill Bill is still at 100% in the cream of the crop (though that will change with the addition of Denby’s, and possibly M. Davis’ review(s)). But I wouldn’t pay attention to anything outside that column, it’s a waste of time reading things like joe blo’s review. zzzzzzzzzzzz

Check out J. Hoberman at the Village Voice. He knows how to write about films.

That JoBlo reviewer actually said: I cant imagine watching the entire Kill Bill movie in one sitting.

What does that tell you? The guys not really a QT fan anyway.

Im gonna be writing my review tomorrow right after I see it. So I’ll let you know the real deal.

I just dont like this thing when the critics say its not as good as Vol 1. Volume 2 isnt trying to be another Volume 1. Just like Jackie Brown wasnt trying to be Pulp Fiction 2. Its a QT movie, hes gonna mix things up.

I also find many of the “negative” reviewers keep saying its not as good as Volume 1. Then they go on to say how great the film is and how its “Classic Tarantino” in the same review. Its very fucked up. ???

The other reviewers outside Cream of the Crop are not necessarily “junk”, they’re just not as popular. The overall tomameter rating is more reliable I think. May I remind you that the Cream of the Crop rating for Vol. 1 was only about 78%.

I would agree somewhat with Cream of the Crop being more reliable than your average review on Rotten Tomatos. At least the cream of the crop doesn’t resort to anecdotal stories or things like, "Man, that was so cool!"

A lot of them might as well be Harry Knowles’ unholy children.

and here’s CNN:

<LINK_TEXT text=“http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movies/ … index.html”>CNN.com - Review: 'Kill Bill Vol. 2' sharp, splendid - Apr 15, 2004</LINK_TEXT>

i just read the review at FilmForce and it actually complained about all the dialouge. they said its “the most talky film yet” from tarantino.

my respect for ign went down after their review of the volume 1 dvd. The guy gave it a 4 and compained that the film isn’t original.

Yeah it’s not very original. But isn’t that the point of the film.
