2. Hard Boiled (1992): The Hospital
- Heat (1995): The Downtown Bank Robbery
I agree with them but Heat as #1?
^ What about Terminator 2’s police shoot-out with the helicopter and stuff? Not the chase scene, but the scene before that where they brake in that place to get the robot hand and stuff and those cop cars and swat is outside and he blasts them all to hell.
But my fav would have to be Scarface’s!

That one was too corny, Arnie pussying out and trying not to kill anyone, lame. The one in the first Terminator mentioned in that list is far better and more badass.
Woo, Heat numba one!
Seriously, that’s a great shootout, and I love that shootout. Seems like they got 1 and 2 right ;D
Hot Shots! Part Deux? LOL! The rambo scene. LOL!

True.
“I’ll be back”
I’ll throw a vote for State of Grace. Coolest slo-mo shoot-out in the books.
I think Scarface owns them all, I am so in love with that scene. So awesome it is. The Heat shootout was pretty boring, as I recall.
How about Taxi Driver? Where’s THAT?

I guess you could call it boring since there are very few casualties in it. But just the energy of the sequence is able to capture the viewer’s attention.
a few additions to the list
A Better Tomorrow (not on the list, wtf. The teahouse scene is one of the most influencial shootouts in movie history)
A Better Tomorrow 2
A Bittersweet Life
True Romance
As for the list, The Killer is too low, The Matrix is too high, The Boondock Saints shouldn’t be on the list at all. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Le Femme Nikita, The Way of the Gun, Tombstone and Open Range I haven’t seen.

Yeah the ending of Taxi Driver should have been on the list.
Absolutely, now to think of it, it’s my favourite
yeah but that ain’t an action sequence. It’s not meant too pump up your adrenaline or be exciting like the others mentioned, the Taxi Driver shootout is just scary shit and realistic.
And Once upon a Time in the West & GBU needs to be #1 & #2 on that list. Duck, You Sucker should atleast be on the list.

What? It is one of the best shootouts ever, I don’t see how anyone could think that it was boring.

I’d also add the Teahouse Shootout from Hard Boiled.
I love the Heat shootout, it really deserves to be nr 1. I agree with Hung Fist, the finale shootout in A Bittersweet Life should be on the list.
The Heat shootout was good, but it seemed very hollywood. You could hardly see the impact of the bullets most of the time. The Open Range shootout however was fucking intense. It was very cinematic, very dramatic. The sounds of the gunshots are so menacing.
I love the Open Range shootout (and the whole film), it is very gritty and realistic. Costner did a very good job on that film.
Heat without a doubt deserves that top spot. The directing, editing, and sound was pitch perfect, and besides, it’s got De Niro and Pacino in it.
