I haven’t been to blockbuster since the fat lady behind the counter tried to convince me not to buy a copy of I’m Not There and go for P.S. I Love You instead.

Awesome.

Criterion’s newsletter came with this and has forums talking about Che is coming through Criterion. Think of a Che boxset by Criterion. :o

She honestly said, “I’m Not There was just boring non-sense about a bad musician. I don’t even like Bob Dylan.”
Oh, God…the rage is building in me again.
^ Yeah that movie was awesome, I actually ordered it through a Blockbuster. Weird.
That lady is one of the brainless, eye catching, hour and 30 min remake, brought to you by Michael Bay film fan.

Oh wow, she didn’t just try to sell you on a different movie she bashed on the one you wanted? I liked I’m Not There.

You just reminded me. Have you seen Herzog’s Aguirre, the Wrath of God? My friend described Che Part Two has “Aguirre with guns”. So see Aguirre if you haven’t, you’ll enjoy it. That goes for everyone! EVERYONE!

As far as I’m concerned I’m Not There is a masterpiece in the bio genre. It’s in the same league as Mishima. Like, you can’t tell the life story of someone as strange, odd, brilliant and enigmatic as Bob Dylan in any normal, sensical and linear way.
I haven’t seen Aguirre. Have to write that down. Alot of people are saying Che Part One is the better, but I actually liked Part Two better, but whatever.

Wonderful. Do we know what’s going to be on it?

I saw it as one full film without the divide so I didn’t get the chance to compare which is better. The whole thing was absolutely fantastic and Soderbergh’s low-fi film this year was just as good, “The Girlfriend Experience”.

I can’t stand most biopics (really dug Great Balls of Fire!, go figure) but that’s what I liked so much about the movie as a biopic, it was not a biopic! It broke every rule that had been established in the past years of award grubbing bullshit and made a damn good movie out of someone as enigmatic as Dylan.
On another forum, a Soderbergh interview from a couple months ago was posted saying that he has a mountain of deleted scenes, also vintage footage, behind the scenes stuff, and that Criterion will put it all on it. I think we are a month or so away from actually seeing everything on Che as related to Criterion.
It helped I’m Not There that they had all those great actors to play with too.
Cool guys, I’m checking out. See ya later.
See ya man.
Orson Welles movies I think are on TCM on Tuesday night.
F.W., you made me go see the Aguirre trailer, and that alone reminded me of Che Part 2. The beginning of the trailer showed a group of people walking a trail reminded me of it.
Yeah, that’s one hell of a shot. It’s also a film that influenced how Apocalypse Now was shot because it’s basically a bunch Spanish conquistadors going down a river in the Amazon on a raft to find El Dorado.
I might have to really consider checking this film out, thank you.

^ Yeah I was kind of back and forth with is Casablanca really an epic. People say it is.
I’m really divided on Casablanca.
Every scene that takes place in Rick’s club: Thumbsup
Every other scene: Thumbsdown

Ingmar Bergman was great, have you seen Cries and Whispers?
Haven’t seen that one yet. I expected more from Seventh Seal, but I loved Wild Strawberries and Virgin Spring.

Completely agree. The most haunting and stunning final shot I’ve ever seen.
…Oh, and I’m looking forward to Che too.
