The Simpsons Movie

the south park movie was brilliant! and the brady bunch movie is a bit of a guilty pleasure. I really think people just wont admit to themselves that the simpsons movie is terrible.
Anyway, they said the movie is nothing like the trailers, they’re just kidding around
What do you mean? It was exactly like what they showed in the trailer.

I agree that the show dipped in quality drastically for a few years, but I can’t say

that I get much enjoyment out of watching the old ones anymore either. It just

doesn’t hold up these days anymore. Not now that there’s a whole market of much

smarter/mature adult oriented cartoons out there.

I think the movie worked though, even compared to the episodes in what people

call the “golden years”. As far as full-length 2D animated films go these days, this

was a fuckin’ gold mine.

And for the record when your proclaiming yourself to be a “diehard fan” of something

(or even a fair weather “diehard fan” of something), it should be spelled die-hard. I

guess while were being anal about shit like that the first letter in every sentence

should be capitalized as well, along with the letter “I” when it’s meant you represent you.

Sorry, I tend to get all english teacher when I’m drunk, but if you check with empireonline,

I’m sure they’d agree with me.

Good one

People have a tendency to approach something they loved in their younger years with caution when it later (a decade or more) makes it way on the big screen. It happened with Star Wars and it sure as hell has happened with The Simpsons. People are too stuck up about these things and it’s almost like they go into the cinema knowing there is no way it isn’t going to fail.

I have been watching The Simpsons when it first aired here in the UK. I’d watch it everyday. I stopped watching the newer seasons solely because I don’t have Sky One anymore (or at uni). But when I watched it, I really liked it. I wasn’t overly impressed, but then again I wasn’t disappointed either. It worked on so many levels and got right what it tried to achieve. Saying that, I don’t think it holds up well on the big screen and is at it’s best when on the small screen. 90 minutes is too long to uphold such high quality in a cinematic setting.

I will be going to watch it a 2nd time on Saturday as it will be my little sister’s first time of going to the cinema. I’m going to try and make it memorable.

Simpsons is and will always be the greatest cartoon ever made and the only people who would disagree would be the 14 year old pricks(not saying are one btw)that think they own the world in their hands. Face it cartoons blow compared to Simpsons(Family Guy,ATHF and South Park)I love the whole series.
“diehard fan” in the sense that i was a loyal follower of The Simpsons not meaning i am a former fan of the die hard movies!

check out the review on empireonline to see someone who agreed with me. How the fuck did anyone think it was good? it was even worse than the new episodes. The simpsons has become this sacred cow that no one has the balls to criticise. The fact is that I couldnt be a bigger fan of the series up to about season 12 but since then it has sucked balls and im arrogant enought to say anyone who thinks different is simply WRONG!!!
Oh, shut up!
Thank you Eastern Beauty for saying that ;D I havent seen the movie yet but I wouldnt take anyones opinion who actually liked South Park

I thought the 14-16 yeard olds were the only ones who still do like Simpsons. It’s the people that

have matured and moved past it that don’t like it anymore.

Well actually there are people who grew up watching them like me who still watches them and love the simpsons with a passion. I have always thought Simpsons as a mature silly cartoon that everyone could love. And if there wasnt for the simpsons there wouldnt be no Family Guy or South Park. Anyway enough of this, if you dont like them(for some strange reason)than your really missing out.

Im just curious but what kind of cartoons do you like?

In addition to your highly ironic misuse of the word “were” which was pointed out by another kind poster, the fact that you come from a place in which Capitalised is spelled with a z hardly places you in any position to lecture me on the virtues of the english language (no offence to any americans but thats just not how you spell it - its perverse!). Plus It’s an internet forum not an english spelling and grammar jamboree or whatever you call it… so shut the fuck up.

Unlike The Simpsons, South Park is in its peak and still has an important role in society. The world needs satire to point out its flaws and South Park is the only animation programme which successfully does this at the moment. The Simpsons is still my favourite show of all time but the fact remains that it sucks now…Just because it was once good doesn’t mean that you have to block out all critical thought when watching the newer, crappier episodes.

You sure couldnt tell it but glad to hear you have respect for the show.

Damn it, damn it, and damn it again! I proof read that post like four fuckin’ times! I guess that’s what I get

for trying to be a smart ass and a drunk at the same time. All the same the point of my post was to mock

your obstinate attitude towards such an insipid topic by being even more high-handed in regards to an even

less compelling debate.

And as far as Capitalized is concerened, I’m American, so I use the American dictionary.

It used to be a mature show, back when it was about a disfunctional family, but

more often than not these days it’s just about whatever lame scheme Homer gets

himself involved in.

I like King of the Hill (although I haven’t really seen many new ones), The Boondocks, Family

Guy, and Futurama. I wearing a bit thin of Family Guy and Futurama though.

If that’s true then I’m never gonna mature… Damn. It’s way better that way still

“All the same the point of my post was to mock

Well my high-handed attitude stems from frustation at seeing my favourite show (one which i quote approx. 5 times a day - which is a actually a bit sad but anyway…) become almost unrecogniseable in terms of its tone and content. With the release of the movie The Simpsons is now more popular than ever…with mainstream audiences at least)…the sort of people who would never grasp the quality on display in series 2-11 and who are impressed by lame spiderpig jokes. Its a typical fanboy gripe but they’ve become stale and boring and in the case of the film especially, they have sacrificed quality for mainstream success.

Family Guy has its moments but thats gone a bit stale now through lazy writing ("You Think thats baaaaad! - YouTube) - South Park is the closest to the Classic Simpsons in terms of quality.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. Can’t think of a foreign cartoon I can stand to sit through

though.

Hell, I thought the movie was great. One of the best films I’ve seen to come out this year.

i finally saw it yesterday (before watch Death Proof for the 4th time) and i liked it very much. it appears they took the best writers and the best jokes, captured some of the magic of teh old seasons and mixed it all up for todays zeitgeist. result: great.

fuck all this pixar crap, this is way better.
