The Cast of Inglourious Basterds

I quit believing in the Academy a long time ago… The Cohen’s winning last year gives me hope, but I don’t give a shit if Quentin doesn’t win an Oscar, yeah, it’d be soooooo nice, but it doesn’t make a bit of difference to me because I still don’t expect the films that I love to win.

I really wish Quentin would just make whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and not give a fuck about who thinks what about it.

He has to be in the position to be able to do that too. Other people are financing and greenlighting his movies, not him. we can pretty safely assume that he has been in an awesome position with great control ever since Reservoir Dogs was a success (with Pulp Fiction he even thanked the Weinsteins for “letting him make the movie he wanted to make”).

Let’s just hope it stays that way forever for him.

You’re right Kenneth. But look how badly he gets dissed for DP. DP was a fun flick. It was fun to watch. I’m watching it right now, actually. But that’s not “good enough” to be a QT movie. I’d love to see 100 more films as cool as it!

Too right!

Yup! Many times when I was watching it or when people were dissing it I was thinking to myself “God, if every year JUST ONE movie came out that was half as awesome as Death Proof.” And I’m not even exaggerating.

We’re a lonely group, it seems. ^5

I think when people do the QT Film Tribute his most lauded films will be Pulp, Kill Bill and Bastards.
By fans undoubtedly. But by historians I bet it’s gonna be Jackie Brown with its deep mature characters that will be lauded as QT’s real masterpiece.

while JB really is better than PF in a lot of ways, that is still not going to happen. Especially historians will always point out that PF totally hit the nerve of the time and was a phenomenon that influenced Hollywood greatly. JB was the better movie, but it didn’t do any of that. So fuck historians.

btw it’s too early to talk about for which movies he will be remembered the most, he still has a long career ahead of him.

What you say about PF defines a classic. And a classic ain’t the same thing as a masterpiece.

Simon Pegg talks "Inglorious Basterds!" - YouTube

Nice clip. Simon’s right… When QT gets a feeling about someone he’s always right.
We all know Oscars are good. We dont need to discuss the theories behind Oscars and films that get them or dont. We hope QT gets one for IB. Great. I want to talk about the cast and the film.
Yes, that’s right. Do you think QT is dreaming about the awards and all that - No. He has work to do and a great film to make. It’s a great script guys - now he just has to direct it and do a great job with it. Awards come after all is said and done, right now it’s a matter of business. But as far as Original screenplays go - this is a potential candidate for the Oscars.

I felt Paul Thomas Anderson was robbed, I know No Country was great, but jeez they gave them the best adapted screenplay award, best director and best picture. PT deserved something, TWBB was a fantastic film and deserved better.

Simon Pegg’s just confirmed it and that’s good enough for me.

Yeah, can’t believe me you didn’t click on the link I posted. What an insult ;D

Now had you have put it in the BREAKING NEWS! thread, I might have paid more attention to it… but it was buried in here… inside the official cast thread.

Stop. Please.
