The B&W sequence (Death Proof)

In case you don’t know, there was a black & white sequence that occurs in Death Proof (Somewhere during the 2nd half) where Mike is stalking girl group #2. Come to find out, this entire section was deleted in our (North American) release, but looks like it’ll be included overseas and in the extended version.

For those who read the script, does anyone know how this scene plays out?

Yeah LB. Its the introduction scene of Mike in the second half. It happens before he takes the snapshots of the girls.

Theres 3 scenes cut out.

  1. The lap dance of course
  2. The original opening of the 2nd half: Mike jumps through a billboard and then stops at a 7-11 type place and touches Abbys feet. Thats the B&W sequence.
  3. Afterwards, the girls picking up Zoe in the airport before Mike takes their pictures. You may have seen that shot of the girls dancing in that one scene.

Ok, thanks.

Jumping though a billboard? Wtf? Got bored and decided to do a stunt? ;D

There was also more interaction between Mike and Julia that got deleted as well. Which explained why he had a grudge with her by yelling, “MIKE!” when she got his name wrong.

I dont remember any other scene between Mike and Julia in the script. The first half of the film is pretty much how its written. Their only interaction in there is when he talks to her on the porch and she acts like a bitch to him.

She calls him Stuntman Burt and he says: MIKE, haha.

When Mike jumps through the billboard, its like supposed to show hes back in full Death Proof mode I guess. Hes blasting hillbilly music and havin a good time.

Plus, one curiously deleted moment was when Zoe goes flying from the car (You see a great deal of preperation of her being catapulted on the behind-the-scenes footage) but I wonder why QT decided not to show that?

Also, many fans (And I was one of them) expected to see one of the cars explode during the chase since you saw it happen in the previews/trailers. But look closely, this footage is actually in the MACHETE trailer. Way to fool the crowd!

That reminded me of what QT and RR were saying about how in many exploitation film trailers you’d see stuff like shots of a helicopter exploding, but youd see the actual movie and it wasnt in there!

And another scene that was cut from the first half was how Arlene became acquainted with Pam out on the porch.

I would’ve liked to have seen that.

it probably would’ve broke up the pacing a little bit… just guessing why Tarantino took it out

Yeah, there’s a whole seen where Jungle Julia was sitting with her feet up and Mike says something about her feet getting wet. She gets all pissed, telling him to stop thinking about her feet. It was pretty funny.

  1. that was in the movie
  2. Scene, not seen
  3. has nothing to do with topic

That wasn’t in the movie. I wish it was, I thought it would be seeing how it was in the making of.

In the trailers Ive seen the car explosion scene, the lap dance scene and Mike talkin about Julia’s feet… However none of them was in the movie… Are we ever gonna see these scenes?

Again, the car explosion is in Machete. I think it appears right after Cheech blows that guy’s head off.

We’re likely to see the other mentioned scenes in the extended cut or as seperate deleted scenes.

Oops! forgot that one! That was actually a really funny part too. Pam goes all bitchy on the guy who she went on the date with.

I also forgot what happens after Mike kills the first set of chicks: We see him pop a tape into his stereo and rock out to the music while he has an orgasm.

Where was the red appel And Potheads 2 Billbords :’(

The cut we saw of Death Proof is missing like 30 minutes. Its a condensed cut.

QT took that scene out?? Fuck, it was the funniest part in the whole movie!! >:(

He also cut out the whole “Do I actually hafta say the words finger fuck me?” scene, but we see the end of it when Butterfly comes back inside after Nate escorted her from her car with an umbrella and Jungle Julia says “Aww, good for you, Nate.”
