Tarantino to adapt Grand Theft Auto?

i thought the special features on the RD 10th anniversary said he was dead…

i’m probaby just nuts, don’t mind me…

Are you sure you aren’t confusing Eddie Bunker with Lawrence Tierney?

Shit, I also thought the dvd mentioned something about Bunker’s death. But I have to re-check it, I’m not sure.
Shit, I also thought the dvd mentioned something about Bunker’s death. But I have to re-check it, I’m not sure.
Yeah, you might want to check that. Well, Bunker was at least alive for the interview they gave him where they were driving him around in the car…and that was about a year ago at that max when they did this. Obviously, he could have died in the time that passed between then and now, but I think I would have heard SOMETHING.

I checked it now cause I couldn’t resist. Actually it doesn’t say anything specific. But I probably think I got this impression because the dvd menu said Dedicated to…Lawrence Tierney, Eddie Bunker. I assumed they dedicated it to him cause he was dead, like Tierney.

Yeah, I could see how you’d think that. So the general concensus now is that Eddie Bunker is, in fact, alive until he turns up dead? I’ll go with that!

ok… umm the gta games were based on scarface and the mobster movies ok end of discussion.

That’s not really the end of the discussion at all. Stupid Sentra…
By the way…wich cast would you want if this movie ever breaks through???

This is what I want to see:

Eric Close or Johhny Depp : - Tommy Vircetti

Cheech Marin :- Diaz (from Vice City)

Edward Bunker:- Avery (the cowboy) who could have the same character as his role in reservoir Dogs “Mr.Blue” but nobody knows about it…it’s a litle movie detail…

Harvey keitel :-Joey leone

Danny Aiello:- Salvatore Leone

Paget Brewster :-Maria

Danny Trejo: -Miguel

Quentin Tarantino :-Steve Scott (the porno king in Vice City LOL) or Ken Rosenberg.

Irene Molloy :-Mercedes

Michael Madsen :-Toni

Samuell L.Jackson :-8-Ball

Fairuza Balk :-Misty

Lucy Liu :-Asuka

Ernest M.Garcia :-Gonzales

Will Smith :-Lance

Jeff Bridges :-Mitch Baker
I would change 3 things

Edward Norton - Vince
Samuel L. Jackson - Lance
the sheriff from from dusk till dawn (what was his name?) - Avery

Not sure who would do 8-ball though  :-/

Although I’m not real familiar with the game, could Ving Rhames do 8-Ball?

Oh no fuck Edward Norton,I hate him as an actor…he acts like shit…

Ving Rhames shouldn’t play 8-Ball cause Ving is a realy big strong man and 8 ball isn’t realy all that big and strong. So,take a look at Sam in Shaft…he is 8-ball.

Anyways I would like to see Will play a descent role,in a descent movie.

The only problem is,Vice city and gta III is another timezone.Vice city is (I guess) early '80’s while GTA III is from this time.

So,I think it would be best to keep the same characters from vice and III and make a movie that takes place in the mid 90’s…or something…wouldn’t that be great??

the movie would be present day, and I doubt he’d use an already existing main character like Tommy Vercetti, he’d probably make a whole NEW character.

I don’t think there’s hardly any resemblance to GTA and Tarantino’s movies…Vice City was basically a Miami Vice/Scarface video game, I don’t think there’s been any direct references to Tarantino’s films in GTA yet, I see more in Max Payne and True Crime: Streets of LA, than I do in GTA.

either way though the movie would be blockbuster, a powerfull pop/controversial game turned into a movie…and by Tarantino.

But you need to think, what would you expect? It could either be one of 2 things; a Pulp Fiction type movie or a Kill bill type movie.

In a way Kill Bill is more close to GTA in its outrageous over the top things going on, Pulp is slower moving and its action is very quick, thats not going to appeal to most GTA players, TEENAGERS. They are gonna want over the top action and no plot.

Yes, if Tarantino did do something like this I’d rather be it more in Pulp Fiction styl; slower moving, dialogue heavy great plot. rather than fast paced, lots of action, little plot and dialogue; Kill Bill style,

a little off topic, but a good video game adaptation would be Halo. Not by Qt of course, but by somebody else.

nice cast. by the way, I especially like the part about Johnny Depp in a QT flick. that would be great. funnily enough, whenever I see tommy vercetti, I think he looks a creepy amount like ben affleck.

Yeah I realy wanna see Johnny in a QT flick,I loved him in fear And Loathing In Las Vegas…

if he were to do a GTA movie, then he would have to include K-BILLY’S SUPER SOUNDS OF THE SEVENTIES as a radio station.

Oh hell yeah…

If this shit ever get’s through…I bet Rockstar Games is gonna make a game of the movie…including K-Billy supersounds of the 70s in the radiostations… ;D

that would be tight! you could be any one of the thieves and they wouldn't necessarily die how they did in the movie. however, to make it a video game, they'd have to add a lot more action to it. but man I couldn't wait to start a profile under Mr. Blonde and then slash that cop up, video game style!

the people behind gta 3 and vice city, The company Rockstar seem to make games that really would work as a movie. u got the gta games. max payne and max payne 2. max payne is like the perfect game for a movie cause its got heaps of awsome dialoge and its got a story to boot. check it out at http://www.maxpayne.com its proberbly one of the greatest games iv played. rockstar also made a game called man hunt which i hear is also really well done and would work as a movie.

Manhunt wouldn’t make a real great film because it’s a really old, overused plot. Max Payne, though, would be awesome. It could be a modern film noir masterpiece if it got done right.

Quentin needs to go back to the classics and remake Doom or Wolfenstein 3-D. He could probably even make a kickass movie out of Pac-Man.
