Takashi Miike films

I know of it, but I’m not really sure of the quality. I bet it’s good though, I hope to be picking up a copy sometime in the future. All I need to know is that Takashi Miike does the voice-over for Kakihara, that garners my interest right there

I own the 2 disc uncut version of ichie…fuck this was one of the most intense shit I have ever seen!

I’m not really into manga, but have seen some popular ones (ghost in the shell, akira) you really have to look at ichie as a manga movie…otherwise it screwes with your brain to much…

Like BadMotherFucker I almost didnt get past the hanging the guy on hooks and shrimp shit, but I’m glad that I did, because…its really strange to like sick characters…like kakihara

It’s like the anime shit in kill bill being acted out by real actors…only much worse…

What I dont understand is that its rated 16 and above here, while movies like FDTD and PF are 18 and above… :o

Tip: If you re grossed out by this movie…think of it as a manga movie and then you’ll be able to enjoy it more…

Honestly, I’m ready for a shock. Nothing scares or disturbs me in movies anymore, not since I was a kid. Maybe I’m just desensitized or something. Okay, some stuff makes me squirm - I’m not completely heartless - but every time I go into a movie that’s supposed to be utterly terrifying or horrifically violent, I end up nonplussed. I got Audition on eBay and it’s on its way, and I’m getting Ichi next, so hopefully those will be a bit more of a jolt.

Well the thing is, are you watching those films solely for the shock factor? I think I’m desensitized too, I mean I sat through the so-called most disturbing movies ever made but they hardly had an impact on me. Some of Ichi’s violence is pretty brutal however. I think I’m desensitized now because of all those times I watched Dead Alive. The first time I saw it I was shocked at the blood, now I just laugh at such things. It actually sucks, alot.

Oh, of course not - I’m buying Miike films because of everyone here who says he’s a genius. And truth be told, I just like violence. Action, gun battles, martial arts, blood - it’s all good. But what works best for me is when a movie will mix that with other elements like romance or comedy, and come up with a unique combination - hence my liking of True Romance over Pulp Fiction.

Ah I gotcha ;D Well, if you want non-stop action then i’d seek out Versus after Ichi or Audition. Trust me, you’ll like it, ALOT.

Yeah, I checked out Versus on Amazon - looks cool.

Got a little question:

You know the guy that Karen tells the dog story to? Is that the same dude that gets gutted by GoGo in Vol.1? Looks awful similar to him. Especially when he says “Oh My God”.

^^^^^YUP

the guy who played Boss Tanake is also in Ichi
the guy who played Boss Tanake is also in Ichi
for any Miike fans, Jun Kunimura (Boss Tanaka) is also in another one of Miike’s films called Audition.

Where’d he go in that movie? He dissapears near the end.

For some reason I feel that the manga and the anime cheapen the original. I looked at a few pictures, and they portray Kakihara differently, and for some reason it made me sick to my stomach. That’s really weird…

I’m gonna go de-brainwash myself now…

I’m actually not interested in the anime at all. There was an actual sequel for prequel that wasn’t an anime made. Some direct-to-video junk.

I guess what bothers me is seeing Kakihara’s hair and it not being blonde, or just Kakihara not looking as cool as he does in the movie in general. That’s my problem with it.

Has anyone seen the anime?,I have seen shots of ichi in the anime but is the storyline the same as the movie or is it different?.

I haven’t seen it, nor shall I, but it’s supposed to be both a prequel and a sequel to the movie. Maybe it explains exactly what happens…who knows.

Hi guys, As you can see I’m new here and I hate to be the kind a n!gga that shows up outta the blue then BAM hit some n!ggas up for a favor. But I gotta be that kind of n!gga.

My question is in regards to the length of Ichi the Killer. Now I have the 124 min version and am now seeing a 129 min version advertised.  :o Please tell me I’m not missing 5 minutes of extra goodness. Oh my copy has Kakihara’s face with a red background on the cover and is distributed by Tokyo Shock. Its definitely not burnt or anything.

I’ve looked around the net and all the trhings I have seen people say where cut are all in my version. I just hope I dind’t get ripped off 20 seconds here half a minute there kinda thing.

Thanks for any help guys.

Thanks Holiday thats the version I got. Good lookin out man.

I’ve been planning to see Ichi for a year now, and today I finally did. I finished it half an hour ago. I really only have one thing to say about this film. It was some of THE SICKEST, MOST PERVERTED, MOST DISTURBING, WEIRD-ASS SHIT I’ve EVER seen! And I’ve seen a lot of that, believe me!

I mean, I have nothing against graphical violence, but this is just WAAAY out of line. I knew what was coming, and I didn’t expect it to be a joyride, but still I’m confused. What is it with the Japanese people that makes them LOVE such extreme, weird-ass shit time after another?

I think I have to go watch some Teletubbies now or something, because I need to calm the fuck down. :o

No matter how well it was executed cinematographically, you guys should have your fucking heads examined for actually LIKING this. And this is probably the first time I say so about a violent movie. It’s just too gross.
