I think Oliver Stone is a great director. I love how he always usues documentry footage. I think it’s very real. I think he’s best experimental film is natrual born killers. There are almost three thousand cuts in that movie. I’ve also seen JFK, Nixon, Born on the Fourth of July and Commandante and liked all of them
i think the oposite of most, natural born killers is my most favorite movie ever, proberbly cause im more of an artist than i film fan, i think qt really should go more overboard with destorting his films, you dont really need to be a film geek to know were his characters come from.
i think nixon was great ,but not a masterpiece- the critics correctly stated that it was very biased-i found that scene were hes on his knees pleading to his mother interesting-but he doesnt really convince me that his distorted view of people is justified-but thats not really what disturbed me-what rteally disturbed me is that hes kind of like how someone described robert rodriguez-puts lots of energy in his shit, but still ends up crap.
u-turn was the shit-bottom line
-the doors was fantastic, thats what id call a masterpiece
-i always have to switch off the television in born on the fourth of july when the guy starts waving his plastic cock at his family
-i didnt watch platoon and his other films yet

oliver stone is the man, if you hate him get your head checked, great director
I liked
Wall Street
Platoon
Born on the 4th of July
anyone ever see HEAVEN and EARTH?
thats one of the FEW Stone films i havnt seen
who saw Commandante?
I watched the first 20 mins (havent had time to watch the rest) and I’d like to say that this is really a milestone documentary. i mean who has ever talked to Fidel Castro like Oliver Stone, who has ever filmed that man in situations like that? Really impressing. Not that neutral but still… wow. A shame that this was basically shunned by US distributors
I like Stone, he gave Tom Sizemore his best role (Jack Scagnetti)
now I finished watching Commandante. of course you can not classify this as a neutral documentary (neither can other documentaries) but I found it to be a very interesting insight into the Cuban society and a very interesting film about Fidel Castro.
very good
interesting fact:
the ultimate oliver stone collection includes both Persona Non Grata and Looking for Fiedel
I taped Persona Non Grata back when it was on HBO and it is fascinating. It shows all aspects of the conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians. It shows how the people think of the suicide bombers as rock stars etc.
I havnt seen the Castro documentry
I will now rate the Oliver Stone movies I have seen in the order they came out
- Platoon - 10/10
- Born on the Fourth of July - 10/10
- Talk Radio - 8/10
- JFK - 9.5
- The Doors - 9/10
- Natural Born Killers - 8/10
- Nixon - 10/10
- U - Turn - 7/10( I feel he should have done Oceans 11)
- Any Given Sunday - 9/10
I just need to see Salvador, Heaven and Earth and Alexander.
Ha Har!! over @ yahoo news:
Oliver Stone Arrested on Drug, DUI Charges
Saturday May 28 1:45 PM ET
Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone was arrested for investigation of drug possession and driving while intoxicated, police said Saturday.
Stone, 58, was arrested Friday night at a police checkpoint on Sunset Boulevard after showing signs of alcohol intoxication, police Sgt. John Edmundson said.
A search of his Mercedes turned up drugs, Edmundson said. He did not specify what kind.

Stone was released Saturday morning after posting $15,000 bail.
A message left Saturday with Stone’s agent David Styne was not immediately returned.
In 1999, the filmmaker pleaded guilty to drug possession and no contest to driving under the influence and was ordered into a rehabilitation program.
Stone’s films include the recent “Alexander,” “JFK” (1991) and “Natural Born Killers” (1994). He won Academy Awards for directing in 1989 for “Born on the Fourth of July” and in 1986 for “Platoon,” which also won the Oscar for best picture. He lives in Los Angeles.
I can’t wait for the mugshot @ smoking gun!
overrated piece of shit director
HAR HAR! guess what shithead that was MEAN SPIRITED
I doubt that You or Me will ever make ONE FILM THAT WILL EQUAL THE GREATNESS OF OLIVER STONE >:( >:(
A lot of people especially the conservative media like Fox News and the NY Post has been ripping on Oliver Stone for this and it makes me sick.
I guess it shows that we live in a society in which people care more about a director’s private habits more then they care about the fact our President has gotten us into another Vietnam! Do I Care that Stone is a cocaine addict? No. Does it impact my opinion of the man? no.
He is STILL an Oscar Winning Director and He is still the best director to accurately convey the American Spirit and Soul.
Be warned people I’m Back. I’ve changed and I’m not the little pretentious shit anymore. I apologize for acting like a jackass in the past. I’ve rewatched Kill Bill volume 1 and seen 2. I like Volume 2 better(more character story etc)
As far as my controversial comment about that Tarantino should take notes from Stone on how to make a war film. I apologize if it came out wrongly but what I MEANT to say was I feel that QT should look to the following 3 films for INSPIRATION: Platoon, Born on the 4th of July and Heaven and Earth. Sure, they are different wars but i feel these films are some of the greatest war films ever made. If QT likes one in paticular he could homage it.
I dont think hes great. He is definately overrated. For some reason he just pisses me off. I dont know why though
:o Controversy! Stone to make 9/11 film.

Oh yes it did. I mean what were those indian scenes about? It was utter shite and I’d much rather watch The Matrix: Reloaded.
It didnt suck for me, but I do find it hard to watch, after a while the cinematography gets heavy on my brain.
But I think Oliver Stone is a great director, great movies, and I really like his documantary’s; persona non grata and looking for fidel.
Ill always remember that moment in JFK; where during the court speech, Oliver Stone makes Kevin Costner look deep in to the camera towards the audiance, it freaked me out the first time
