Dude remember if you are going to slit your wrist remember it isn’t across the road,it is down the street. Scorsese is better,Tarantino is just a movie geek who reivented the genre of modern gangster movies,Scorsese almost created the genre of modern gangster movies. Dude watch a Scorsese movie right know,Don’t spend your time on a board and make sure to rent some Peckinpah movies too. Tarantino is God forgot Mean Streets come on great movie.

I agree with mr. blonde here...and yes I forgot mean streets...d'oh! but I think the 4 I named are the ones you have to watch first :)

and al bundy: I love them both...I think that Scorsese makes real art and will be acknowladge as one of the early masters in cinema over like 200 years....I think QT will be remembered kinda like mozart...the young wise guy with extreme talent and guts to make what he feels is right...based of course on what others did before him...and creating something new...

Ahhh skip Casino and rent Kundun. Then become a buddhist monk and move into a shaolin temple. After that you can walk the earth.

scorcese and tarantino cant be compared. marty obviously makes more and better movies than QT has. maybe they can be compared twenty years down the road when QTs like 60 years old and Marty’s dead (I dont like that idea but thats life).

By the way, this is a little off topic but has anyone seen Marty’s THE KING OF COMEDY with deNiro in it? IMO, its got to be one of his worse (not bad by regular standards) next to BRINGING OUT THE DEAD

yeah king of comedy was pretty shitty.

I agree, you can’t compare tarantino to scorsese, they make completley different films.

Even though I think Martin Scosese makes great films, I prefer Tarantino. I haven’t yet seen one bad Scorsese film, nor one bad QT film. It’s just that everything QT has in his films I love. It’s almost as if what I expect and want in a film, QT has in his films which is why I’m such a big fan. I like Scosese, but I like QT better.

maybe I like QT better, but I think Scorsese is the better filmmaker…

If I could chose: seeing a new QT or a new Scorsese flick…I would go for QT…its like ify says…it packs all you could want in a movie…

aight i watched the aviator, that movies the most powerful shit ive seen on the big screen, it kinda makes me wanna watch these old rich folks movies on power.

Wait man, don’t judge scorsese from the avaitor, watch Taxi Driver,Mean Streets,Casino,Raging Bull, and Goodfellas before judging him for one movie.

Damn, I still havent seen Mean Streets. My favorite one out of those is Raging Bull. De Niro difinitely nailed the Jake La Fotta character down. And Al Bundy, like Mr. Blonde said, dont judge Marty on Aviator. IMO the Aviator was a toned down, PG13 Scorcese that was good but did not have the greatness that is usually found in a Scorsese picture (haha saying the word “picture” makes me feel so uppity). Any Scorcese/DeNiro teamup is worth seeing except for maybe KING OF COMEDY.

By the way, who thinks that this Scorsese/DiCaprio thing will last? I, for one think that this is just a phase that Marty is going through. Leo is an OK actor but no way they are going to make the masterpieces that was made in the DeNiro/Scorcese era. I really hope that Bob and Marty team up for another Martin Scorsese “picture”. 8)

I think The Aviator IS a masterpiece.

I think you should give Marty’s new movies some time to prove themselves to be as great as his older movies. His older films only seem better because time has turned them into classics and The Aviator is too new for people to realize as a classic. That’s why he has never won an Oscar. Scorsese makes great classic films and people usually don’t realize how good they are until years later.

[/quote]scorsese is currently working on a thriller with dicaprio. i think he is an underrated actor-when the guy wants to act out agony like in “this boys life”, “basketball diares” he acts out the agony so strong you can end up getting nightmares. but yes sir i wont judge him just from the aviator.

Leo is fucking amazing when he is given the chance. ‘The Basketball Diaries’ and ‘What’s eating Gilbert Grape’ are two of his best films in my opinion. Good on Scorsese for having faith in him!

I guess me watching TITANIC as my first Leo movie doesnt give me a good impression of the guy. I did like him in THIS BOYS LIFE though. I think thats the movie that made De Niro recommend Leo in the first place to Marty. I guess Leo can act but I just want to see another DeNIro/Scorsese teamup bfore I see a Leo/Scorsese team up. I dont know, call me old fashioned

Hm…I think I posted this in another topic a while ago but I think it belongs here.

Leo’s on record as saying that choosing Titanic was one of the worst decision’s he’s ever made. PT Anderson was trying to get him to play the lead on Boogie Nights but Leo chose Titanic instead and he said it was a horrible career move because it completely changed how people saw him as an actor, he wasn’t “mysterious” anymore.
