Memento is definitely a revenge film. Also, Desperado and Once upon a time in mexico kind of are.
PAYBACK with Lucy Lui & Mel Gibson
I can’t believe no one mentioned this - it’s one of Quentin’s Favorites:
and the reason why he was happy with Tony Scott doing True Romance
^^^ I liked that movie, even though it has its fair share of tired soapy melodrama. Anthony Quinn is brilliant in his role.
And whoever thinks Robocop is not a good movie is friggin’ crazy.
I love RoboCop! I used to watch that all the time when I was kid. No one mentioned Conan The Barbarian?! Shit! That’s like the king of all revenge flicks. Arnold is fuckn bad ass in that movie.
Dude, Robocop (at least for me) is one of the coolest movies ever made. It has over the top violence, memorable villains, black humor (I laughed my ass off when that guy got shot in the balls), and one of the coolest cyborgs in sci-fi cinema history. And as if all this wasn’t enough, the movie even manages to be a brilliant satire on the relationship we have with technology and how much we’re so dependant and brainwashed by the media. The news broadcast shown in various parts of the movie, complete with adverts and all, were pure genius. And the way Murphy is transformed from a human to a robot was an ironic message depicting metaphorically the way we are losing our soul to technology.
In conclusion, I think Robocop has everything. It manages to be massively entartaining whilst at the same time conveying a very relevant message.
Thank you for your cooperation. Good night.  8)
Wow, no one meantioned I Spit on your Grave.
Good, cause I hate that movie. also, I think Robocop does kick ass. I think it was pretty violent as well. Best revenge movie ever has to be Full Contact with Chow yun Fat and Anthony Wong. That has to be one of my favorite HK action films, rather then having over-the-top bulletfests, it focuses on slower brutal violence. The plot a bit simple too, Jeff (Chow) is a nightclub bodyguard and his buddy Sam (Anthony Wong) owes a load shark money, so Jeff teams up with Sam’s gay cousin (Simon Yam) but Jeff gets double crossed and Sam steals Jeff’s girlfriend. It’s awesome it really is. Especially the bulletcam shootout in a bar, the music kicks ass also.
The action isn’t mind blowing. But I like it cuz of its rawness. Like that fuckn factory shoot out was by far the best part of the movie. It’s just a cool movie to watch. Nothing more. Nothing less. I like the music too.
These are the ones that I’ve seen that I can name off the top of my head. I enjoyed all of these movies and think that they’re worth at least a rent. I still haven’t seen I Spit On Your Grave, but i’ll probably get that soon. Anybody know of any others?
Last House on the Left
Freeze Me
Irreversible
Death Wish
this one is questionable and any regular visitor to this forum has heard of it, but does Lady Snowblood count?
A good one, if not the best example of one, would definately be “Ms. 45.” And yes, Lady Snowblood counts as a rape/revenge flick.
