Official grindhouse film review topic

I remember QT saying(believe it was at comiccon)that Stuntman Mike is his best character that he has written, in your opinion Seb was he right when he said that?

hm… Kurt certainly loved the character.

Mike is a very multi-facetted character. not a very easy character. there’ll be lots of speculation about his motivations and past. me and Kurt threw some ideas around… you’ll see

seb in ur opinion rank QT and RR best to worst(well certainly not worst ;])

I want to know how good Grindhouse is compared to all the others.

Me and Kurt… Me and Quentin… Me and Vanessa… DAMN!!!

plz seb :stuck_out_tongue:

Seb acts just like I’ve had done if I met all of them and drank a little

You got that one right…

Where did Seb go? Is he ever going to post his review?

He’s probably still stalking Vanessa Ferlito right now ;D

And who can blame him

Another positive review, but it’s another one that favors PT over DP:

Review: Grindhouse

The thing I keep hearing about DP is “too much dialogue” again and again. Ill have to see it myself to decide on that.

"Once Planet Terror ravaged through my brain, I experienced a few more Coming Attractions including the Rob Zombie directed “Werewolf Women of the S.S.

this is actually the one that I can’t wait for.

Planet Terror and Death Proof are quite different from each other for a reason. You don’t want to spend 80 minutes watching non-stop action and gore, then jump to another movie that gives you the same for another 90 minutes. Grindhouse is a mixture of 2 movies that compliment each other fantastically. QT and RR were probably aware of this before even writing one word of their scripts.

Also, I ain’t siding with QT or anything here, but Planet Terror has a slight advantage on Death Proof to please more viewers since it is being shown first. Why? Because when DP starts, the viewer would have already drained a good part of his energy watching PT and the fake trailers. It’s only logical.

that theory would suggest that the veal cutlets taste better than the cheesecake…who is to say which is better? It is all up to the viewer.

yes.

and my review will hopefully be up sometime tonight. i have college my friends, dont forget that. i have my first draft finished but i dont want to post it the way it is right now.

and then i still have to transcribe the hours of interview footage, and review the grind house book, and write a general article about grind house… be patient

Take your time Seb and we’ll continue to stay off topic.

Scar: I think youre right. I think alot of energy is drained by the time DP is on and that may make the talking seem even longer than it is. I think its more about each film complimenting the other and about DP building tension and a real story first, not just hitting you over the head with more action for no reason.

Also PT is more of a fantastic action-gore film and QTs is more of a realistic stalker-slasher film, so those two genres do work differently plotwise. Slasher films and gialli usually have alot of talking (think about it) broken up by short killer attacks. QT is doing something different too with his film, not just a straight foward take on that genre.

what can i say, my rather humble review is up, check the front page

Great job, Seb.
