I hate Scarface. I can’t stand watching it. It makes me cringe to imagine having to watch it again. Goodfellas, Godfather(s), Casino, Untouchables, and Sopranos are so much more entertaining and worthwhile. That is my opinion - thus it is in the thread “movies you hate that everybody else loves”.

Good to see that I’m not the only one. I’m really just not a big fan of DePalma. Quite honestly, (to the dismay of Pete) I’d rather watch E.T., TRON, or even The Black Hole.

I know this is your opinion which is why I don’t want to insult you and go on and on, but if you had picked any other director other than DePalma I would have kept my mouth shut. It’s not that I respect DePalma above all things, it’s just that DePalma cops so much shit about his style. People are always comparing him to Hitchcock and it pisses me off that people basically think he’s a Hitchcock copycat. He’s so much more. Plus, I think that his individual style is the most evident in Scarface. Not even the cynics compare Scarface to Hitchcock. It’s DePalma all the way.

Most of the movie is like "Oh look stones, I wonder where those stones came from. I mean this is the outdoors!! There should be no stones here. I’m convinced, there are some supernatural beings here who put the stones there. Oh and, be a dear and pass me a handkerchief, ta."
It was completely boring. Hardly anything happened in it, and if it wasn’t anything - it wasn’t scary. The chilling end was the only good thing it had going for it. I spit on those that love this film.
