OK, let’s do this the other way round. Which movies do you hate or just find bad that everybody else seems to be fond of?
Sin City (I have tried 3 times, since everybody rubs their cock at how great this is supposed to be, this movie is most tedious and unappealing for me. Hate it)
Shrek series
Pirates of the Carribean series (Another fantastic Badelt score wasted on a terrible movie)
Do you really hate Star Wars or just think it’s overrated? While one could argue about the latter, I never met anybody who couldn’t get a bit of entertainment out of this movie.
I can’t stand the Mission Impossible Series! The first one was OK but Tom Cruise has always annoyed me even before he went publicly nuts w/ Katie & Scientology.
Also, I’m not crazy about the Tomb Raider movies. Don’t get me wrong I love Angelina Jolie. She is very talented but that one strand of hair that never moves makes me crazy. Also, for about half of the first film she has a big dent in her boob. Apparently she stuffed her bra, at some point she moved wrong and didn’t bother to re-adjust the girls. From that moment on she spent the rest of the movie with a deformed rack. Also, who the hell wears skin tight spandex and a paper thin coat in the middle of a blizzard?!
The Charlie’s Angels movies. Super girly, petite supermodels kicking butt while their makeup & hair stays fabulous …right…whatever…BORING!

I like Thriller and i think most people on this board probably hate it…dont you?

what, the Michael Jackson music video? Now could anybody hate that one? I love it, it’s a great piece of popular culture.
edit: I think everybody who considers himself a real movie fan and a “cineast” doesn’t think too highly about Tomb Raider and the Charlie’s Angels movies.

I can’t wait to see They Call Her One Eye! It looks freakin’ amazing.
…but then again…you know how great exploitation trailers look anyways.

Ouch! Are you accusing me of not being a real movie fan or “cineast”?
The topic posted was “movies you hate that everybody else loves”. Not, which uber obscure films that only serious cineasts would watch do you hate and other film geeks love?!

What? No, no, no. I agree with you about those movies being bad. I was just saying I don’t think you would find those movies on anybodys favourite list who is serious about movies.

Fuck you. Mortal Kombat fucking owns. Motherfucker. How dare you say that.
[/quote]I misread the thread, I do like Mortal Kombat, HELLO! Resident Evil fan Paul Anderson is alright in my book.
I thought Inland Empire was a pretentious piece of shit and I think David Lynch is generally overrated even if he does have his strengths. I liked the first half of Mulholland Drive and thought Blue Velvet was interesting, but I think people just praise him a lot of the time because it’s the cool thing to do.
That’s nonsense, I hate how everyone thinks that if you say you love Lynch it is only cause he’s supposed to be hype and watcing his films a cool thing and all, it’s not true. Yeah, there are these kind of people, I saw a lot of them when I was in a Lynch exhibition in Paris, there were his paintings and stuff, shorts also. A lot of phonies that call themselves his fans, really. It’s very obvious. I really didn’t even know what to think when I was there, couldn’t really understand whether I was like one of them or not, there’s this feeling. But to hell with that! It’s not like that. I really like his work, a considerable part of it I dislike, but the rest is awesome, like Twin Peaks (mainly season 1 though) or Blue Velvet or Eraserhead. I don’t go around bragging about that and acting like a Lynch-nazi. Not all are like that.
Lynch isn’t pretentious. Directors like Greenaway or Van Sant are pretentious. Damn, even Jarmusch is more pretentious than Lynch.
