MONSTER’S BALL
Now that was something I could have done without. I feel like 2 hours of my life should be reimbursed for seeing that shit. I don’t understand how Halle Berry won the Oscar…for doing what? having sex with Billy Bob Thorton for like 20min then looking depressed the whole time, and whacking her fat kid? wow…I should have won an oscar by now if that’s all it takes…mopeing around a trash house and beating up ppl!
The Passion of Christ
They totally blew that movie up. I couldn’t stand that movie. I had to turn it off. Sometimes when Mel Gibson can really piss me off

jesus as your savior

The last 2 are a bit boring in parts, but I don’t know how anyone can’t love Fellowship. That movie owns all.
[/quote]
true, Fellowship is the more “fantasy” part of the story

jesus as your savior

So I have to believe that in order to enjoy the film??
I also think “The Piano” is highly overrated, only it’s kinda hard to say it in public over here, as everyone gives u the baddest eye as in: oh! you’re not an intelectual, then! F*ck it— I hated every second of it and had to fight my sleep

Not neccessarily, but it doesn’t hurt
The Pianist
Fuck that movie. All it is is a jewish guy running from nazis in WWII. Thats nothing special. Then its made out to be like hes some kind of hero. He aint no damn hero! The real heroes were the jews that were FIGHTING the nazis. Not running away

That’s true, Polanski should have made the film about the Polish resistance during the war instead of Wladis Schpielman. I mean plenty of Jews survived the war by running and hiding from the Gestapo, but that didn’t make them heroes. In a way they were cowards for running instead of fighting.
Szpilman is not at all heroic and Brody resists the attempts to make him a conventional hero. Part of the film’s power resides in watching Szpilman lose his bourgeois mannerisms as the years of the war drag on. Finally he is reduced to an animal state, surviving as best he can from being caught by the Germans. From the shaved immaculate dressed dandy we see at the beginning of the movie, he becomes a bedraggled emaciated ghost, hiding in an abandoned bombed building, nursing a can of gherkins close to him. In the film’s pivotal scene, an SS Officer catches him and Szpilman tells him that he is a pianist. The Officer, played by Thomas Kretschmann, knows that the war is near its end. He asks Szpilman to play him some music. The handsome Aryan beauty of the Officer, his uniform perfectly fitting, is contrasted with the almost animal state to which suffering has reduced Szpilman. It is as if Hitler’s racist vision has been realised in this contrast. It is, finally, Szpilman’s ability to play wonderful music that moves the Officer. He spares Szpilman his life. As the Soviet’s enter the city we see Szpilman emerge into a Warsaw bombed to oblivion. The human figure is reduced to anonymity in the seemingly endless vista of ruin and devastation.

good point. Dammit I spelled “Szpilman” wrong.
you also spelled Hanzo wrong
Thanks. I knew that along time ago. I’ve just never been good at spelling names unless I’ve seen it spelled somewhere.
