All I can say about the trailer is: BRING ON THE MOVIE!!! October is TOO long to have to wait! Even though we may have only had a glance of David Carradine turning towrad the camera, that shot sent CHILLS up my spine, very artfully done!! I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS FILM TO BE IN THEATERS!!!

Well i can wait, but i sure as hell dont want to
The plane shot, winterlandscape…yes of course they are meant to look artificial. It’s fantastic the way Quentin pays tribute to the history of film.Of course regular audiences have no chance of understanding this…the average moviegoer is stupid!
For proof you only need to check the AICN talkbacks. On second thought, don’t bother…it’s just too depressing!
well yeah, but the plane and the city were computer generated, and for a CG animation it looked pretty bad, maybe it will look better in the final movie
I’m sure it’s computer generated to look like old fashioned model work.To me it looks like models, but I’m surprised to hear it’s done on the computer.
Are you sure the city is computer-generated ? I believe that I’ve read in one of Harry’s set reports that QT had asked the guys who do the models for the Godzilla-movies (not that Emmerich crap, mind you ) to make him a model of Tokyo for Uma to land in. I’m pretty sure that scene is what’s in the trailer.
On another note: I have to say Kill Bill doesn’t look like it’s going to be very gory judging from the trailer. Now I know it’s a PG-rated one and all, but I don’t think they would digitally remove all the blood from Uma’s outfit at the standoff in the garden. In the script it said that she was literally soaked in Crazy 88 blood, but here it looks as if she only got a little dirty. The different fighting scenes we got a glimpse of also didn’t look very bloody to me. This is not a criticism on the movie, because it doesn’t need to be very gory at all as far as I’m concerned, but those of you who thought Kill Bill was gonna be a gorefest could be in for a surprise…just my impression
I feel that Kill Bill needs extreme amounts of gore, like Lone Wolf and Cub,and Fulci. It’s the only way to do this expoitation homage justice.
But I’ve been knowing all along that it will never be possible in an R rated cut.I can only hope that Quentin has shot lots of gore footage to be used in the dvd version.
I’m afraid the R version must be pretty tame as far as gore is concerned, which is sad cause it needs that.
Remember this is supposed to be exploitation!
I just this second saw the trailer, and I’m gonna wait a while before I watch it again, to let it sink in! The thing I’m most pleased about is the look of Lucy Lui and Uma’s fight in the garden, which when I read the script created an image so perfect I worried it wouldn’t come up to that standard on film. I’m a doubter, I admit it. “I have this perfect image in my head now,” I thought, “but what if QT doesn’t make it quite right?” Stupid girl. Seeing that, I realise I should have just trusted the guy and saved myself a worry. It looks just incredible. This is the bit I’ve been waiting to see ever since I first read it, the bit which stuck in my mind. Oh my god! October? Are they serious? That’s so cruel!!
Everyone looks great in it. The music is pretty fab. I’m almost scared by the accuracy with which QT brought images I imagined when reading the script to film. The fight in the kitchen is so exactly like what I imagined, right down to the fucking lighting. I can’t wait for the novel (here I start drooling, I apologise).
Anyway, I’m just going to skip around the house for a bit now and practise my sword skills, before sitting down to watch the trailer again. I’m looking forward to the 18 certificate trailer by the way. The one with the blood. There’s gonna be blood. The reason I think there wasn’t any in the crazy 88 scene was because - judging by the number of 88’s still standing - she hadn’t actually begun to slaughter them yet. I’m not a gore-fest fan, but frankly, the thought of QT bypassing the chance to go crazy with the ketchup does not make sense!
If it’s going to be a gorefest you don’t want to turn alot of the general public off right away, and yes, she had barely begun her work when those scenes were used for the trailer. I’m not a gorefest fan, but seeing this trailer does get me intrigued. I’m going because DAVID CARRADINE is in this film! Though we know what’s supposed to happen in the end, I still want to see him play this part. QT will do justice to it I am certain. He will make David shine. Though the image of David turning toward the camera was brief, it was enough (for now). I am certain QT will have more trailers waiting in the wings with more action and more gore. After all, this movie MUST get through Cannes. And as the time gets closer, I am certain he’s going to want to entice more viewers. I just hope that when he does the next trailer (and there will be a second announcing the actual release date), David’s name will be mentioned. I did notice two things that probably WON"T be in the next trailer, Qt’s voice saying, “Action!” and as the sword fight was being shown where the old gentleman jumps on the Bride’s sword, in the beginning of that scene in the upper left hand corner, there appears to be something that should not be seen. Unless I was to pause the trailer at that point and examine it, I could not tell you what it is, but it’s things like that that can detract from even a trailer. I was not disturbed by the plane coming in. To be honest I did not realize that it was part of the actual trailer. I thought it was part of Mirimax’s logo sequence. If it isn’t, I’m still not disturbed by it. Now days if directors can’t get specific scenes such as a plane coming in over a city at night, they’re going to go to the computer to create those types of scenes. They may not look as realistic, but now days viewers should expect some computer generated scenes of that nature. It would be too cost prohibitied to try to capture that kind of scene. It would require a special camera equipt with just the right film and the camera would have to be positioned just right to capture such a scene. Not to mention the fact that they could have to take several different takes to get the scene they really want. Doing it on computer means you can create and manipulate the scene exactly as you want it. Think of Jurassic Park. To place running dinosaurs in a scene with humans, they had to use the computer. I am certain the plane will look better on the large screen than on the small. There is still time to clean that scene up where it will look more realistic. We must be mindful that this is the FIRST trailer. The second should be better.

I am as close to positive as can be, without being positive that the action was intended. It comes right after the “fourth film by QT” thing, I think, meaning it would make sense as a segue, plus it seems like whoever did the sound chose to make that prominent. I think they intended it.
I didn’t notice the problem with the man jumping on the sword scene, as I was astonished by how fucking awesome it looked.

When Miramax releases the final theatrical trailer, it will be perfect. For a first teaser trailer, this one is the best I’ve ever seen.
- The plane flying in at the beginning is AWESOME, thats the Toho Tokyo/Godzilla influenced shot we heard so much about. (The plane might be CGI but the buildings etc, is a model built by the Toho Tokyo guys, the ones they use for Godzilla movies) . The plane almost looks like a bomb dropping from the sky. You either GET IT or you don’t. Don’t listen to the AICN naysayers, its not worth the time.
- The crane shot of The Bride surrounded by the Crazy 88s is fuckin sweet. It looks like a Sergio Leone type crane shot from Once Upon a Time in The West. The Bride fighting in silhoette in front of that blue wall is so awesome. Thats what strikes me so much about the movie, is how damn beautiful it is. Not only is the action great, but the the whole look of the film is beautifully done. QT knew exactly how to utilize Robert Richardson’s talent on this one. Not to mention the set designers. Those guys should win an Oscar!!!
- Pai Mei leaping onto the sword is one of the best shots of the trailer.
- The gore: Dont let the trailer fool you, theres gonna be heads, arms, legs, etc flying through the air everywhere. Blood gushing from bodies. Thats the thing we’re gonna have to wait to see in the theaters. If the MPAA lets the gore stay, we’re gonna be in for one big splatterfest. Like AJ said, they dont wanna ruin the impact of those sequences.
One thing I’m really glad to see is that the film isn’t going to be exactly like the script we all read. It looks like theres many additions to the final film that will be even cooler. By the time we see the film, it will be perfectly edited, specific FX added, just a thing of pure excitement.
I can honestly say I love the trailer, its just totally cool from beginning to end. I’ve watched it about 30 times. I’m psyched for this one.
I really haven’t studied too many trailers before, and what was said about the “Action” being part of the trailer may be very true, when you think about how this movie is being announced. As for the second item, it’s just at the very begining BEFORE Pai Mei jumps on the Bride’s sword. In fact I think it’s right on the part where she had fallen down first. It’s only for an instant. It’s as if a piece of someone’s arm or clothing got into the camera shot unitentionally, obscuring a small portion of the corner of that part of the screen (the upper left hand corner). Still, the scene was awesome. It certainly had that “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” kind of feel. And yes, I very much agree, the cinematography on this movie is going to be fantastic. I am certain that with each scene there are going to be little surprises along the way, props, locations, and even just how people are dressed. We know the Bride is wearing the same outfit that Bruce Lee wore. I wonder what other little items there will be to reference other martial arts films, perhaps even something that will reference David Carradine’s own old television show, Kung Fu. This movie just might compete with Lord of the Rings for special effects, and that’s saying alot. Because I also love what’s been done in that series of movies so far and cannot wait for The Return of the King.

oh good lord! Ive looked through some of the forums on the subject of Kill Bill and i can’t believe how many people hate the idea. First they claim to say that Tarantino and the stars of Bill can’t handle a kung fu/samurai movie - and then they go on to say how much they love The Matrix! Its the same thing! The Wiscow…o god i’m not going to attempt it Brothers were comic book freaks that came out of nowhere to direct the matrix. And Keanu Reeves wasn’t exactly a soldified action/kung fu star either…whats going on here!
They are even going on to say that QT is a hack with no talent whatsoever! Hey, how about those guys go out and make a movie better than dogs or Pulp Fiction - OH THATS RIGHT! THEY CAN’T!!!
And what wasn’t cool in the trailer???
-Awsome music, check
-samurai swords , check
-Crazy yakuza guys w/ kado masks, check
-references to just about every cool movie ever made, check
-beautiful cinamatography that makes EVERY SINGLE SHOT shine with glistening goodness, check!
people these days…
What’s up people. HAven’t seen y’all in a while but happy new year blah blah blah. Anyway… I paid 8.50 the other day to see the KB trailer(which coincidentally had a movie afterward called gangs of new york) And it rocked as I thought it would. When uma runs up the banister and does that sideswifpe shit I was pretty hype. The movie rocks and anyone who thinks this movie is going to suck obviously loves sucking down salt protein shakes while eating rusty brown ring donuts.
OH and BTW if anyone who didn’t see the fucking movie trailer for FDTD and though it was anything but a fucking vampire movie then they should just go and blow thier brains out immediately. hmmm… let me think… Dusk till Dawn… what happens then… hmmmmm… must be a teenage girl coming of age story… yeah that’s it.
The Yubari girl is so fucking hot and I was praying she was the chick from Battle Royale(best movie ever…) that people were talking about casting.
Gorefest it will be if it was anywhere near as blood spurty as gangs of NY was after the greatest trailer ever.
Damn, I wish I could watch the trailer. I know it’s on-line and everything but I downloaded the thing and it still didn’t work. Eh, fuck it. Maybe i’ll see Gangs of New York sometime here.

uh… it is the girl from BAttle Royale.
I know bas… I was saying that I was glad that it was her b/c she is sooooo goddamn cute. How can I get my ass to that premiere.
I keep watching the trailer, and I keep enjoying the hell out of it and not knowing why. There’s something magical about that thing that generates a physical reaction. When I watch it I can’t help but find this big shit-eater grin spreading across my face and excitement welling up inside be. There seems to be no intellectual explaination for it, but like a great rock song it enlivens the soul.
The same experience is true of reading the script, the same experience is even true of the friggen website! So far everything about Kill Bill has had that magic to it. One could reason that the final film will have that experience ten-fold.
Yes, I am indeed going through a pumped moment about this movie.
I’ve got only three words…
UN-FUCKIN’-BELIEVABLE.
