Real quick question for moviemike, how did you get picked for it, did you have to sign up or was there a contest or something?
i remember there being something about it on everything tarantino site.
Yeah, I found a message board for it at Everything Tarantino. I found out much later that the producers left a post on here but I’d never seen it at the time.
There was a message topic that just said TRIVIA CONTEST. Underneath that it said, “Anyone interested in participating in a trivia contest with Quentin Tarantino please post on this board.” Something like that. And underneath that, there were already two posts from two guys who more or less said stuff like, “Oh, I dunno, I don’t think I’d be able to stand toe to toe with Tarantino like that, I don’t know movies like he knows movies.” Kinda like that. I had no idea if this could be for real. It never mentioned that you had to give any sensitive information, just your name. I figured it pays to ask so I posted, “What does this entail? Please let me know.” Followed by my name. This was at around 3am.
That afternoon I checked back. There were the posts the guys had left, my post, and now a new post. “Mike, if you’re still interested in the trivia contest with Quentin Tarantino, please email me at --” and she left her email address, this lady’s name, at abc.com.
I thought, abc.com? We’ll see. I emailed her and scant seconds later I got an email back. She asked me, “How can we get in touch with you? Can you give us a number to reach you?” At the end of the email was this lady’s name, and underneath that was Associate Producer, Jimmy Kimmel Live, the address of the studio, and a phone number. I’m like, no fucking way. I emailed her my cell phone number. Two minutes later my phone was ringing. This producer proceeded to test my knowledge of QT’s life and movies. I was so nervous I answered one or two wrong but she said I got more right than anyone else they tested. They were really struggling with finding someone. The show was being taped the next day for air the following night, and they couldn’t find anyone to participate in the segment until I posted on that board. From that point I was being passed from one producer after another asking me various types of personal questions, fanboy type questions, airline info and the like. By 7 the following morning I was on a plane for LA.
I’ll never forget what Quentin said in Mike’s ear when the challenge was over. ;D

I really suck at reviews but hear it goes:
Death Weekend
A rich guy wants to take a model to his private house for the weekend to have some fun but it all goes wrong. The movie starts with an awesome car chase when a group thugs try to mess with a woman(Diane) and her rich date(Harry) for the weekend. What they didn’t know is that the woman knows her cars and certainly knows how to drive. After driving the thugs into water the leader cant take it that he’s been out driven by a female so he wants bloody revenge. Harry stops to drop off some sweet moon for two drunkards which they later on drink right down but oddly enough Harry leaves his beautiful car there where the thugs can find it easy. Soon after arriving at his house, Harry watches and takes pictures of Diane taking a shower in a hidden department that she doesn’t know about while all this is happening Lep is getting directions from one of the drunks to Harry’s place. After Diane is done taking a cool shower, harry expects to get some when she refuses Harry gets mad and tells her to pack and get out. After taking a walk Harry feels bad and says sorry but by then its to late the gang members are there and ready to have some good ol’ fun. After playing mind games with Harry and Diane the gang members trash the house and break everying from a toilet to a desk lamp. Diane cant take it anymore so she gives them their own kind of medicine. Death Weekend is a really good action revenge movie that leaves you entertained to the end.

Me: Ive been trying to decide whether I want to do the advertisement thing and I think instead of having banner ads and all that stuff Im just gonna put regular URL links. After all this really isnt a website its what Im calling a “multimedia database”.
The review you wrote is excellent. It doesnt have to be perfect. Just readable for people who havent seen the film yet.
i had the chance to be a regular of “le brady” the last grindhouse in paris (it’s still open but it doesn’t do double features and it is not permanent anymore). i really watched fantastic programs there (great films and weird/funny/scary stuff happening in the theater), maybe i can review them. it was a few years ago but the memories are still vivid 8)
NOTE: If anyone wants to contribute reviews please add the following criteria with them:
Link to Youtube trailer (if possible)
Genre/subgenre (i.e. Hixploitation, Blaxploitation, etc)
Release year
Distribution company
Director name
Main Stars
Your pen name or real name and date you wrote it.
Thanks!

The Man From Hong Kong
Stone
Turkey Shoot
Dead-End Drive In
Mad Max
to name a few I could review for you
Not to mention I’d do Chang Cheh, Ed Wood, Herschell Gordon Lewis, Russ Meyer, John Waters and I’d particularly love to do Wuxia/fantasy titles like Chinese Ghost Story, Bride With White Hair and Zu Warriors from the Magic Mountain.
Angel: We could use ALL of those. Any kung fu is great too! Thanks man!
Cool. I wrote a review for Stone earlier today. I’ll start on some other ones.
The Man from Hong Kong, that’s the film George Lazenby was supposed to make with Bruce Lee, Right? Or am I totally wrong?
Was he? I thought it was just a sort of Enter The Dragon-esque film except with Jimmy Wang Yu.
