Aww shurrup Doris. Like you said - which was basically what I said - QT has conjured up a whole mystique surrounding the title… do you expect people not to discuss it when things have slowed down a little lately… join in the fun, it could do with your salacious wit grrrr

I expect a lot more coolness, especially from an intellectual such as yourself. If I wanted to have fun, I’d dazzle along with your asinine flirtations, meoowwww

You tell 'em, Cyd. We are in a topic dedicated to the film’s title after all, haha. And yes, we are desperate for news, it’s no fun being around here when there’s nothing to discuss etc. ^-^

I think QT named it inglourious basterds just to get people to talk about it and spend hours hypothesizing about why he named it that. QT likes to f-ck with his audience and this is just another way he’s f-cking with his audience… Kind of like the briefcase in Pulp Fiction people will be talking about what was in that briefcase for the next 50 years.

I don’t think it’s anything like the briefcase. It’s a title that’s intentionally spelled incorrectly…there’s not much to hypothesize about really. Confusing, yeah. But not mysterious.

It’s mysterious to me cos I still don’t know why he spelled it that way. I’m sticking with my original guess… QT accidentally misspelled the title, and then when someone pointed it out to him, he ran with it and said he did it on purpose.
Why so big deal about the title? Inglourious Basterds looks nice and it’s fun to pronounce it like that. Inglorious Bastards would have been better of course, but the current title is cool anyways. The title just shows how genius Tarantino eventually is, keeping a misspelled title as the permanent title.
I am from Finland so my english may not be flawless.
To spell something inaccuratly does not confirm a person’s genius. I doubt QT would see it that way or a right minded human being. He’s probably done it for the fun factor and nothing more. Certainly not because he’s a genius.
Some people really are madder than Mad Jack McMad, the winner of this year’s Mr Madman competition.
