Well, both films have a missing reel, so: missing reels.
can we stop calling it “missing reels” and talk about some freedoms they’ve taken to make it look like there was stuff missing? they are not gonna just throw a reel out. they will maybe make cuts here and there to get to their running time, and it will look like there is splices missing, but a reel? no. a reel is like what, 30 minutes? it’s a stylistic device, not an actual missing reel. we’ve discussed that before.

You will be watching the films and it will say “MISSING REEL” and will skip about 20 minutes to a diff sequence. Thats whats going to happen. On the DVD there will prob be an uncut version without the MISSING REEL title card which shows the scenes that werent in the US theaters.
I still believe you’re wrong here. I believe RR has skipped a part in the script that normally would take like 30 minutes. Not just bits and pieces through the entire film… A ‘missing-reel’ indeed. I only don’t think he has filmed it since he cut it out because he thought that would be the boring part of the film 
what I take from the interviews and stuff is that there will be scenes that look like there are splices missing. convienent, because that cuts running time. it might just be seconds…

OK, maybe RR just left the 2nd act of PTs script out completely and does have a REAL missing reel in there. I thought he had filmed stuff but just left it out for running time problems.
So instead of watching a three act film, youll be seeing a 2 act film for PT. Which I have no problem with at all.
That’s what I thought Rodriguez did.
Anyways, I can’t wait…March is going by so slow.
We only have a week or 2 left. I cant wait!! Im going to the first show on April 6th.
They should play it at an IMAX theater - that would be pretty cool. ;D
Thats where Im going 8) never been to an Imax so this should be alot of fun.

Based on what I read in the PT and DP issues of Fangoria I’d say there will be (in some sense of the term) a “missing reel” in both PT and DP. Which might be inserted into each when it comes to the S.E. of the DVD according to RR.

I e-mailed the author of that article and he said he got 3 hours and 5 min.s directly from the PR firm that handles Dimension's releases. :)
