What did you like about this movie? For me the best part in the movie is just Johnny Depp, the way he plays it: fucking amazing!! Plz will someone give him an Oscar for that 
What bothers me sometimes is that most people find this movie wierd and totaly not interesting because noting really happens!! I respect that, but at least you can enjoy Deppās character wright?! So hilariousā¦
I thought the key point of the movie and the book was that they were trying to find that American dream, but nothing ends up happening. I love the movie and the book. Johnny Depp did the best Hunter S. Thompson impersonation ever captured on film.
well it was like gonzo filmmaking. it was faithful to HST and very good very surrealistic and a wild and crazy style that unfolds
Yea, this movie kicks so much ass. I just got the Criterion the other day, the extras are really cool too. Johnny Depp is prbly one of my fav contemp. American actors, same with Del Toro.

Rum Diary isnāt going to be a sequel to Fear and Loathing or even a prequel. Sure, its hoping to bank off of the cult status Fear and Loathing has, but its an entirely different story (occurring BEFORE the big acid and drug waves, so no pyschadelic stuff in this one, either) with entirely different characters save Johnny Depp in his Thompson role. The lead in this one is Paul Kemp - practically the antithesis to Duke - and is more like the real life Thompson than the caricature of him in F&L.
Still, I think it stands a very good chance of being great. The book has a very different vibe from Thompsonās post-Hellās Angels career, but its still entertaining, and should definitely be purchased by any of his fans.
Probably still gonna be great, if Johnny is in itā¦ And of course Del Toro canāt be forgottenā¦ Weāll seeā¦

The book was one of the best books I ever read. I highly recommend it. Great read if you are a fan of the film and Thompson.
