Death Proof on DVD

I just wanna say they could’ve at least produced a little booklet ;-(

I really thought QT and RR would do a commentary track together for both DVDs, but soon enough when Grindhouse sweeps the entire world, I’m sure they’ll release a box set with all the trailers and more special features content. They’ve released both films individually, I know soon they’ll release the film as one - a Grindhouse box set.

mabye they do a commentary for grindhouse, qt does for rr’s half and vice versa, that would rock.

btw, I think to call it “special edition” is an overstatement. the extras are great but not much, it’s really the bare minumum of what I would expect from a release like this.

i’ll have a review ready this week, but expect the verdict to be a bit harsh. nevertheless a blind purchase. a must own in my opinion. the quality is pretty good, too, and some of the extras reveal some deleted shots/scenes actually

I guess the “special edition” add on is supposed to turn people on, considering the cheap price and all. But yes, Planet Terror is a must buy DVD, I have that $5 coupon that I got from the Death Proof DVD, so I don’t mind paying $15 for a copy.

I heard that the directors of the trailers (Rob Zombie, Eli Roth, and Edgar Wright) own their content, so they would have to be involved or at the very least allow their trailers on the Grindhouse DVD. If say for instance, Edgar Wright wanted to take “Don’t” to another studio and do the film, they won’t have the rights to that trailer. If Edgar allows the trailer to be shown on the Grindhouse DVD only, then that’s his business.

We always have to wait for an “definite” DVD version of the Tarantino movies. It took years for the PF collectors Edition, it took 5 years for the JB Collectors edition, it took almost 4 years for Kill Bill the whole bloody affair.

And I don’t mind waiting much if the results are good, and they are. And I bet the 4 Disc Kill Bill set will kick ass too. But I can’t wait all these years, so I also buy the “normal editions”, like the current Death Proof US release.

How much extra content can there be for Kill Bill, I mean you can find a crap load of interviews in youtube, but I hope we get to see deleted scenes from Kill Bill, I’m sure that dvd will kick ass.

Was it said already that the R1 dvd is actually region free?

I hate these DVD scams. I feel like im being raped by QT…and no, thats not a good thing!

Is it? That’s brilliant if it is. I live in England and my DP DVD came just over a week ago. Royal Mail were on strike, the bastards, otherwise it would have come much earlier. But I have played parts of it everyday and watched it in it’s entirety once. It’s fast becoming my most watched movie.

Is it?

Judging by how my computer reacted to it, it is. I wouldn’t know about dvd-players because my Pioneer plays [Gary Olman]EVERYTHING![/Gary Oldman]. I once tried inserting a pancake and that played like a dream, too ;D

Yeah, I have a Pioneer and it can make toast ;D It plays SACD and DVD-A too!! I heart it soooo much.

hm, this is most strange. what country are you from? i wonder if the companys of each country they sold it to toyed around with the cut, they did it before. and they can, legally.

When I watched Death Proof in Prague, the scene where Kim and Abernathy are in the car crying over Zoe’s supposed death, and when Zoe gets up, she walks towards the car and says something like “You guys look like shit, what happened?” and the girls break into laugh. I heard no such dialogue when I saw it in the UK nor is it on the DVD. Anybody know more about this?

All I know is that I’ve seen that scene in the movie theater, it’s weird that it wasn’t in the UK version

QT always talks about how he likes to put out diff versions of his movies for diff parts of the world. He probably did the same thing with DP.

… it’s different? I don’t think so.

i’ll try to have a review ready by the end of the week, but it’ll just be my theatrical review plus a review of the dvd’s features and quality, basically

i’m from france and the distributor is a sub-company of the weinstein co. so there is no reason why qt wouldn’t have a final cut on it

Yes, that’s what happens in the UK cut and the DVD, but it was different on the Prague/European cut.
