Hey Im surprised there isnt a thread for him. What can I say… loved SEVEN, FIGHT CLUB, THE GAME, and I havnt seen ALIEN 3 yet. I also like the way he uses CGI in his movies; not too over the top.
i don’t understand why everyone hates Alien 3. the director’s cut that’s available in the 9 Disc Alien box set is quite different (it’s about 30 minutes longer). Alien 3 is the most underrated of Fincher’s films, all of his others get due recognition.
personal favorite has to be Seven, though. ;D
I loved se7en and Fight Club, Fight club is my 3rd favouritist bestest film ever. I haven’t seen the other 2 though. I like his style and how dark his films are.
CGI sucks, my friend.
Fincher is the man. I haven’t seen Alien 3 yet either but I love the 4 I have seen, including safe room.

You know they used CGI in Kill Bill Volume 1, right?
That reallly doesn’t change my opinion on CGI.

With that quote he meant using CGI inappropriately. The particular event he was referring to when Tarantino said that was the CGI used in The Matrix: Reloded, and I’m sure you’ll agree it looks very cartoonish (fake). He meant he doesn’t like films that over use CGI and how more and more people are using it and so it’s therefore killing the art form. I agree with him 100% with that. Film-makers are getting too lazy and use CGI too much, it’s different when it comes to stuff like using it to create bullet holes in walls (Once Upon A Time In Mexico), or getting rid of wires or to execute cool moments which would be impossible to do any other way (the gun shooting scene in The Brides flash back, Kill Bill), but to use it to create a person, or to use in a fight scene is just ridiculous. Anyways, lets not make this into a CGI: The Great Future of Cinema or The Death Knell of Cinema?
when the first movie’s with sound appeared, there were some directors who refused to make sound films.
I like CGI. a lot is done with a computer now, even the people in the magezine pictures are digitaly enhanced to look better.

What about that gun cock effect in The Bride’s flash back? Or Gogo’s mace moving towards the Bride?
funny how a david fincher thread turned into a cgi thread. ;D But since we’re on the subject, I think cgi is ok when it is used as fincher uses it. CGI overkill is a definite no no.

i think that his CGI use starts to get a little heavy in Panic Room (i’m referring to those camera shots that go through keyholes and walls and floors and stuff), but i really like his use of CGI otherwise.

word, a perfect example of using CGI the RIGHT way, i think finch has got a lot to show us in the near future, he’ll reach his peak soon
I like Fight Club the best, then seven, and then Alien 3. I liked Alien 3(not the directors cut which I haven’t seen) more than I thought I would.
