^ yeah same here, all 3 alien’s are classics, loved the first, second and third (fuck “Alien: Ressurection” and “AvP”)

David Fincher wrote a nice article years back for ‘Sight and Sound’ (what one might call a British equivalent of Cahiers Du Cinema) about the lighting for the film ‘Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans’ and how it influenced his use of lighting in ‘Seven’. I like the look of the three disc special edition of ‘Panic Room’ dealing with pre-production, production and post-production.
There was a programme about Hollywood on BBC2 a couple of years back. Rupert Murdoch (who owns 20th Century Fox) hated the script of Fight Club. He felt it was disgusting and did not want it to be made. The executive producer believed in it so much. Murdoch relented but if the film flopped the producer would be fired.

Fincher did Panic Room?
Yeah he did Panic Room.
Fincher’s done some great films, Se7en being his undisputed masterpiece. But as someone else already said, he often over-uses CGI. The alien from Alien 3 ranks up there with the hyenas from the last Exorcist as the most embarrasing use of CGI ever used in a film.

and CGI is putting digital computer animated images into your film mostly on a ‘real’ background, it can be just a special effect (like something blowing up) or an entire characater (alien vs predator)
I own all his films, and I have to say he truley is a god.

Im a big fan of fincher. Fight Club, Se7en, and The Game were great but Panic Room was just mediocre. I havent seen Alien 3 yet.
He has two new prejects coming out which should be interesting. One is Zodiac-Based on the Robert Graysmith book of the same name, Zodiac is about the notorious serial killer who haunted San Francisco during the 1970’s. Leaving a series of puzzling clues and letters on the trail, he was never officially caught while leaving several victims in his wake. A killer without a known identity, this is the story of what is now the notorious legend that to this day, remains one of San Francisco’s most infamous unsolved crimes.(from imdb) this could be really good but it seems kinda too simlar to Se7en and its written by James Vanderbilt(The Rundown, Darkness Falls) who is mediocre at best. The other is Benjamen Button-An odd romance sparks between a woman of 30 and a man who, at 50, begins aging backwards.(form imdb) This one looks like it could be really good.
