Casino is much better developed, it’s a movie with its beginning, with its end, with its main characters having bright personalities and with its flow being nice and comprehensive. It also has a great atmosphere and style. And Sharon Stone played brilliantly! I was always following the plot and I got all sorts of emotions out of the film.
Goodfellas was too stuffed with unnecessary things and all, it had a mixed up plot, easy to lose willingness to concentrate. If you could adjust brightness for characters in Casino with a remote (like TV), you’d have to turn it halfway down to get Goodfellas. Was DeNiro even there? Hell, I don’t remember.
Ooh, very hard choice to make. But i think I´d pick Casino. Don´t get me wrong, I absolutely love Goodfellas, but if I had to choose, it would be Casino. For me, it´s an overall better movie. I could write an essay here about why, but since I´m a bit under the weather, I think I´ll pass for now.

Casino was easy to make flashy, thus maybe a more cliché form of bright lights and “beauty”. For me an overdose of bad taste. Brilliantly depicted by Scorsese though. Its easier to like bright shiney colours. Casino is all over the place with this. Sort of drowning you in the characters and overdose of bad taste.
Goodfellas concentrates more on the life of Henry, and Henry ONLY. As a characterstudy its far more deep than “all over the place” like casino. If you are willing to stay with Henry. you will get far more rewarded than with all the people in Casino.
What scenes did you find "unnecessary’? What about the plot is mixed up?
Dark? YES, especially compared to Casino. Still beautiful though. In my opinion even more beautiful because it doesnt depend on relatively easy “beauty”.

Sure you can have, but I’m afraid, I won’t help you a lot. Since I don’t trust myself a lot on what I wrote, I’ll just let you know : write the way you feel it, I’m someone who like to analyze stuff, I can’t just tell my emotions, I need to describe them, explain them and then analyze more correctly something more technical, thematic, cause movies aren’t just emotions, there’s a concept, a technical base, a structure, a meaning and all. Just don’t see the movie as an average viewer, get into it, get into the director’s mind. Each movie has it own life, it own unit. You studied psychology, then you know what’s analyzing is.
For writing style in general, I may not be the master here, ask Bleach, who is my first influence. You’ll learn a lot by him :-*
