By depth I meant detail and speed (or slowness, as some would put it). They could’ve slowed down a bit, and forget about the characters and the story for a moment. As fast moving story driven film it was very entertaining but I felt there was potential for even more. But of course you have to remember the limitation of the big budget.
The Virgin Suicides - 9/10
Impressive debut! :’(
Cloverfield - 2.75/5
Even though i greatly prefer films shot in the classical style rather then the hand held nonsense thats been popping up a lot lately ( well its more to do with the camera flying around a lot so you can barely see what the hells going on in action sequences ) I thought this was an alright effort… it was defiantly refreshing to see a giant monster/ disaster movie without a scientist in a white coat who explains the situation in 5 minutes… i have to say that i found one of the very last scenes poor… and i thought it may have been better if the monster had looked more like the smaller parasites… but id watch it again i guess… also i think that theres something to be said for following the same characters the hole time through the situation without cuting to another perspective… its more engaging i think…
Casino/Ghostbusters/Richard Pryor: here and now

Yeah I saw it last night right after I bought it. I really liked everything - especially the humor, like when Cecilia jumps from the second floor and lands on the fence and then the sprinklers come on, that made me laugh.
I didin’t know you were a huge Sofia fan, I’m barely getting to know her films so it’s pretty cool.
Wait Until Dark 7/10
Re-Watch:

Indeed I’m a huge fan of Sofia work (probably the biggest on this forum but I hate the word “fan” btw) but it’s awesome if you get into her work. Really.

whatever you say, Mr. Collins.
The last 24 hours on this forum have been fantastic. A Fight Club kind of wake up experience.

She has done only one Lick The Star, which has some impressive shots, especially the first one. I’m gonna look for it. I had seen it on the internet first but then they released it on the Marie-Antoinette dvd edition.
Edit : I’ll post the links for Lick The Star on the Sofia Coppola Thread, check them out there
