Lynch has done like a thousand ads. It’s crazy. Basically if you just think of the weirdest ad you ever saw on television, it was probably directed by Lynch.
When I think of films, TV-shows, commericals, etc., I don’t like to divide them into “high art” and “low art”. So I really hate the title of this thread. If artists like to explore various fields of entertainment, let them.
The results may be cool.
Like this Takeshi Kitano ad for his Nintendo game:

Random and funny.
Chill out, I love commercials. But I don’t like it when tv channels breaks for commercials during movies.
Me too, but that really doesn’t have anything to do with it. I’m always chilled out, btw.

This is a better Kitano ad for his “Takeshi’s Challenge” game. Which is about as weird as that ad. Among other things it involves singing karaoke for one hour and defeating a boss that takes 10,000 punches.

I have respect for Television directors and for Music Video directors, but I don’t respect directors who make commercials for a living very much. It’s different when it’s a great director making a commercial, but on the whole, commercials aren’t really a form of art.
yeah I read about this game, that he himself was responsible for the contents, very funny. I think there is a YouTube video of a guy who plays the game and tries to beat it, good stuff.
Commercials are not really a form of art no, but I hate it when people ask “Why is he doing that, lowering himself” when for example an acclaimed actor appears in a TV show or a famed director directs a commercial, etc. It’s the same kind of stupid mentality as that of a Drama and War movies being automatically better and “worth more” than Comedys and Horror films. But try telling this to the Oscar people, heh.

I have the game on emulator because it was never released outside of Japan and it’s fucking weird. The strange thing is that it’s kind of fun for what was supposed to be an experiment in breaking all the rules of video game development.
