my first ideas go down on paper, then i type them up on word.
I will be using final draft for my script for my film-studies coursework though…
I have a slave who write it down for me, or I use my brain storm analysis tool, which can read my thoughts and write it down automatically…this option tickles a little bit so i prefer the slave…
I use word, but with a screenwriting template, What exactly to these $100+ programs do thats so special? Waste of money, it’s not like it’s going to make your story better.
No, but it saves A LOT of time, and it’s A LOT more convenient.
I wish I hard Word, but I have this program thats pre-installed on my comp. It’s called Microsoft Works Word Processor. Is there any way I can set it up so I can write screenplays in proper format on this program. The prices for Final Draft, Sophocles, etc. are outrageously priced. >:(
I use word and transfer to script buddy, which is free online here. It puts it into a screenplay format. And did i mention it’s free! ;D

I USE PENCIL AND PAPER
I do my first draft with pencil in my notebook but in the later drafts I use Microsoft Works.
First draft pencil and notebook, second draft pens and notebook, and third draft MS Word.
I typically lay it out in a treatment format in a note book first and then from there take it into Final Draft 6. Once I finish a rough draft I’ll print it out, take it somewhere quiet and read it again, making all kinds of notes and corrections. Then I’ll open up a blank document in final draft and start writing again.
I recently tried using index cards to map out this TV show I’ve been toying with. I’m not sure I like it though. Shuffling through the cards to find what I’m looking for is kind of a hassle. I’m not a very focused person so a lot of times I lose my train of thought before I even find the right index card.
Ideas/Brainstorms/Character Information etc on a notepad beforehand. Then when typing the actual script I use Movie Magic Screenwriter.
I like to write on dinosaur skin and virgin blood but pen and paper is alright, doesn’t quite bring out the inspiration in me like blood and skin though.
A pencil.
