The Farrelly Bros’ forever in the making Three Stooges movie seems to be gaining buzz again and with surprise “rumored” casting.
Now I don’t know what to think of the rumor of Johnny Depp as Moe, but Sean Penn as Larry could be outstanding if done right. Now I hate remakes and also something as Iconic as the Stooges being re-done, but if done right, this could be really great.
I like the fact that they are getting more “serious” actors to play these roles, and I think if they are to do the movie, they shouldn’t have guys like Jack Black, or it will just fail due to the history behind the Stooges. But if they get guys like Penn (who is one of my fav actors, don’t know why all the hate around these boards) who has done funny roles in the past, and takes his work serious, this could be great.
Also I think they should do this in black and white, and little skits, instead of a full length movie. I would love to see Sean Pean as Larry in a black and white Stooges movie, instead of say Will Ferrell (who is funny as hell) as Larry in a crappy movie.

Looks like Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro, and Jim Carrey is the Stooges. I actually love the casting but Jim Carrey as Curly? If he comes through, that would be awesome. I can see Del Toro with a bowl haircut, and all you have to do with Penn is watch Carlito’s Way.

Yes, I heard Jim would take the part of Curly. At first I was worried about this (even though Jim Carry is my favorite comedian), but Jim Carry has only been in a few crappy movies like “Yes Man” and others I can’t recall right now, But 80% of the time he makes a outsanding performance. Plus in a strange way, picturing him with the curly red hair, makeup and etc, I can see him nailing the role.
Sean Penn is out, Paul Giamatti takes his place. I like them both, but Sean Penn looks dead up like Larry. Oh well, atleast Del Toro is still in it, hopefully.

Yeah, I love the Stooges. Just sucks that Penn (1st choice) isn’t in it anymore. That cast would of been awesome. Still would love to see it for Del Toro as Moe alone.
They have to be careful with the casting of this. Not just anyone can play as The Three Stooges. I like Johnny Depp sometimes, but I’m so happy he didn’t make it in this film.

Yeah, people asking for comedians should chill. First someone as cool as Will Ferrell, would just act like Will Ferrell. Not the character. Someone like Sean Penn could become Larry, thus making it better. I think the cast is fine now, just wish Penn didn’t leave. He had the character who alot of people care less about (Larry) but Larry I thought was always the most interesting.

And as for making the movie b/w, no one is that brave to do that unfortunately.
The Farrelly brothers is making the movie. They had the idea of it forever it seems. I just hope they finally get it going, hopefully this year.
My wishlist, Del Toro still as Moe, hopefully it is in Black in White (prob won’t, stupid people these days), doesn’t take place in present day.
This movie of The Three Stooges, is it about their personal lifes and them making films and such together, or just a new movie of The Three Stooges?
