The women of Inglorious Basterds

What about Catherine Deneuve for Mimeux? Or is that too obvious…? :-</E>

I can’t stand her botoxed-old-bourgeois face anymore.

I think so. Also I pictured someone in her fourties.

So did I. (Lisa Zane is 47 and Julie Dreyfus is 42) and I wouldn’t mind either of those two playing Mimioux. Lisa’s brother would be good in a Tarantino movie (Billy Zane)

lol Bill “C. O. Jones” Zane xD

One of the publications reporting on Diane Kruger’s casting has annoyed me. They call her QT’s new muse… "Out with Uma, in with Diane"

What a load of crap.

Her role is not even that big, which is why it is beneath Uma (a veteran of the Quentin Tarantino Circle). If any female role is big in this movie, it is Shosanna. I’d assume she was the lead over any of the four females in the movie.

his new muse? yeah, what a load of crap. Anyway, it’s bullshit to call someone who appears in just 1 QT movie his new muse! it doesn’t make sense. Plus, she doesn’t seem to inspire him especially, since he didn’t make the role thinking of her while writing the script… (apparently)

Where did U all read it? If it’s in a tabloid level paper, it doesn’t surprise me because paper has to be sold…

yeah one of these sounded like Uma was considered but lost out to Diane… journalism ain’t what it used to be… bunch of wankers

Truer words have never been spoken.

This article from a French tabloid website says Mélanie Laurent’s been cast for IB’s “main female role” -article says nothing more but it screams for Shosanna-.

I dont know French but I can understand the word “comedienne”.

Never heard of her before but after looking at some photos of her she looks right for the part of a young French-Jewish refugee.

Laurent would be a nice choice indeed.

hmm… Laurent is age 25, Shosanna’s age in the script 16 --> 19. Maybe she’s Francesca.

It doesn’t matter what her ID says. How old she appears is all that matters. Alot of actors play younger than they are. I think Laurent could pass for 16.

I agree with you but since the article says “main female role” so I can’t see another character. And about what GloriousBastard says: she could pass for 19, not 16. But the 16 Shosanna could be played by another younger actress since it’s a small part… Anyway, for the unhappy ones there’s still hope since the information doesn’t seem to have been retaken by other sites, French or not.

Yes, they do, but still - if movies main character is teenage girl, I don’t know how good thing is if real actress is much older?

Her passing for sixteen also depends on the skills of the filmmakers. I think making someone look three years younger (19 —>16) is well in their range.

I don’t think the difference matters at all, for the reasons I mentioned above. I see why you would be worried, but I think you won’t be dissapointed. I think it will work out well.

okay my french is rusty. does that article say she’s been cast or she’s in talks or what exactly does that “vaint d’etre choisi” mean? does it say main female part? hm…
