The Sofia Coppola topic

Here you can discuss everything Sofia related!

Thanx for the great idea Seth_Gecko (TAFKATIG)!

I really dig her sense of style, she seems very much in touch with what she wants and has great feeling for how things should look.

She has this natural coolness and can combine things and make it work. Very emotional and in depth while leaving much to your own interpretation.

She has really grown as a director and I am very much looking forward to seeing Marie-Antoinette. I loved the virgin suicides and lost in translation.

I was searching for this interview with her I read, about MA but can’t seem to find it anymore :stuck_out_tongue:

yes! exactly that one!

She amazes me with her sense for what should be done and how to capture the spirit of MA and doing it in her own artsy almost poppy kinda way. 8)

Yeah, she does it her own way, and thats why i look forward to it so much.I like the mix of contemporary music, and those images. Kirsten is gonna be awesome btw.

I can’t imagine anyone else as MA as Kirsten Dunst :stuck_out_tongue:

Lovely, mischievous

I agree, and that picture is gorgeous! Really mischievous! ;D

An old Sofia interview: <LINK_TEXT text=ā€œ- YouTube … %20coppolaā€>- YouTube</LINK_TEXT>

I’ve only seen ā€œLost in Translationā€ and I loved it right from the beginning. I think I have to buy some other stuff of her. I dunno why i didn’t do so until now ;D

Yeah this interview is great, MA sounds promissing. I love this stylish mix between an historic movie and something special, something that only Sofia Coppola can do. I love the idea of neo-romantic music, modern music that fit with the movie and gives a different style.

I love his mostalgic and in the same time hopefull esthetic. I love the way she sees things, I love his natural sens of cinema. How things should be shot, and edit. I love her story, her vision of the world.

PS : Snake Charmer, if you don’t really interest in Sofia Coppola work, don’t stay here, because you make trouble again, and we don’t want that int this topic, allright ??

I don’t really believe the people has understand why she was in the movie : Winona Rider refuse the role just before the shooting, so Francis Ford Coppola was annoyed and ask his daughter. I mean she did this for helping his father. So we can’t really blame her. And I don’t think she’s that bad, she isn’t a good actress and she doesn’t want to be one, but she isn’t that awful…

I wish I could be such a visual artist as she. And yeah I usually recognize myself in her characters too.

Oh I’ve just remember something I wanted to tell you. I read in a French interview of SC (=Sofia Coppola) that in one shot with a lot of shoes MA bought, Sofia put Converses ! I love that small detail, that’s just like she said, MA is like a typical girl in Beverly Hills… Ahaha ! Can’t wait to see thoses Converses in the movie

I dont think she was awful, but not good either. But i take it for what it was: a favour to her father.

Im so envious of you! You get to se MA so soon! I wanna do that too! ;D :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re welcome. I know a lot of small details from MA that I read in some mags published in France, or some other I saw in the SC forums. So if you have some questions about it … Don’t hesitate a single minute !

AS soon as I saw the movie, I tell you what I think about it. I’m pretty sure I’ll love it, but I’ll be able to tell you more…

That’s so great to speak about SC work in this forum… Maybe Bleach will join us, because I told him to see the movies too and he loves them. I introduced him in SC work. I hope he’ll speak here with us. :-*
