Ok, let’s resurrect this. You can ONLY have ONE winner for each category. I know it will be hard for some of you, but it will be interesting to see what answers you give. Also, ONLY Tarantino DIRECTED films. So no True Romance or Natural Born Killers.

Best Overall Scene (and give reason)

Chapel Scene right after The Bride gets up to get some fresh air and ending with the Deady Vipers shooting it up. I cheated here abit as my selection encompasses a few scenes, really, but they’re tied together. I chose this as my favourite scene because it holds such an emotional resonance for me. I mean the chemistry between The Bride and Bill is so apparent. There is so much emotion there, a lot of things that need to be said that can’t be said. The meeting of two lovers, finally after all those months. We know what Bill is about to do, which brings so much tension into it. I am absolutely in love with the dialogue here too. I recite it verbatim whenever I watch the scene. Furthermore, the inclusion of “Il Tramonto” my 2nd favourite Morricone tune just adds to this sheer cinematic spectacle. The climax of the subtle music that plays in the background right as Beatrix puts her Veil on, brings shivers down my spine everytime. It signifies how Beatrix becomes The Bride. A bright glow overcomes her. The way Bill says she’s pretty, she thanks him and kisses him on the cheek to then go stand by her man. Shown in black and white to highlight the performances from the two actors and their closeness. Then the camera pans back whilst Robert Rodriguez’s score plays is so heart-breaking (yes, even for a guy) and then the sheer menace the music suddenly converts to as the DiVAS enter the screen. Class. There’s no bullshitting around here. Also, the amount of references in the visuals and dialogue is outstanding. It is Tarantino at his greatest and it is my most watched Tarantino scene - the one I hold closest to me. It has everything that typifies him. It’s genius.

This is hard…
