I dunno if it’s considered commercial or mainstreme, but The Descent fuckin’ rocked. I’m hardcore into hooror (surprise, surprise) and I can tell you White Noise was the last movie I ever paid 7.50$ to go see because it was soooooo… Lets just say I slept through it- and I definitly wasn’t tired. BUT, The Descent, just so it, go see it… It’s good. I’ll never ever go into a cave. EVER.
…I didn’t like this film. The only reason why I went to go see it was to see the Saw 3 trailer. They should have gone with the original ending which they cut in America. Even still - it wasn’t a great film.
I consider it the scariest movie I’ve ever seen. I got free ticketsto it… and DAMN! I’m really claustrofobic and then those things… I felt so sick when I came out from the cinema. Awesome movie, scared the shit out of me.

My thoughts exactly. It did have it’s moments, but I expected better. What was the original ending? When are they releasing this on DVD?
After I saw this movie, I went into a cave. And believe me I was with 2 others guys, it was at night, nobody around, dark, no light, only my sh#tty selfphone. And I was almost the only one to be a bit relax. The cave was so weird, people must sleep there, there empty bottles on the floor, garbages, lots of small rooms, which looked like jails, a long corridor and a room at the end. We stay there all in the dark, with the small light of the selfphone this time…
Ahah try this once, you’ll know all the boys are always much more scared than what we can imagine ! And I hadn’t been scared during the movie, but they were, HAHAH

SPOILER
After she gets jumped by Juno she wakes up in the cave, and the crawlers are coming for her and there is no way out. I saw it on youtube.
I fucking hate the majority of horror films, mostly because they never scare me. I’ve seen so many horror films, particularly over the summer and so I swore a blood oath to never watch a Horror again. But a few months later, I broke that oath and watched The Descent (just because my mates wanted to watch it) and my view on horrors havent changed. It was a pile of shite. Btw, The Shining is one of the most perfect films ever.

So I take it you’re gonna skip Grind House then?

Haha, no way, because that will most probably kick arse!!
The Descent is THE scariest movie of all fucking time. Fuck The Shining
I thought the scary bits, bar one or two moments, were predictable. The lighting in the movie was horribly inconsistent. One of the women says samething like “I’m not Tomb Raider” trying to imply that she isn’t strong and stuff. Yet we see that these women have had some sort of combat training, as they’re beating the shit out of those cave creatures. It was rather silly and totally detracts from the mood and theme of the film. I was thinking the film would go in other directions, but the direction it went it was pretty stupid.
I watched it with 3 people, and only the guy whose DVD it was liked it.
Btw, I didn’t say The Shining was scary, just that it is one of the greatest films ever. Period.
The Shining ÃÂs scary. Still, the only movie that ever gave me nightmares remains till this day The Silence of the Lambs. Damn… Anthony Hopkins is so scary in it…
I really thought I would like this film, but I was wrong. I agree with Floyd and thought most of it was predictable. The only thing I liked about it was when they were squeezing through those tight spaces. It made me so uncomfortable, and I don’t consider myself closterphobic.
I don’t think The Descent was that much scaring. Everybody says so, but well… Yeah as Pink Floyd said, it was a bit predictable sometimes and mostly when you know horror movies.
And The Shining is perfect, cause Kubrick is perfect

They got defended themselves against cave creatures so all of a sudden they must of had combat training??
Yes, they started off defending themselves, but soon after they were doing all these attacking moves a normal person wouldn’t even know. I found it highly unbelievable that they would be so efficient when fighting the cave creatures. They turned into fighting machines. It was rather stupid.
Empire gave this five stars. It doesn’t pique my interest, but I guess I’ll give it a chance.
I take Empire’s 5 stars with a pinch of salt. They gave Borat, Munich and King Kong 5 stars, which I disagree with. I mean they were good, just not THAT good.

The Australian one didn’t. Borat and Munich got 4 stars. Don’t know what King Kong got, though.
It sure did freak me out. I would give it something like 5 stars.
Btw, a magazine I’ve read for over a year had never given 5 stars to any movie. And this month came Borat… haha! 5 stars! I can’t believe it really.
