Tarantino: ‘I’m An Amateur’

Director Quentin Tarantino hates the idea of being a professional film maker, because he regards it as a hobby and not a job. The Reservoir Dogs auteur has been making films for 20 years, but refuses to join the Director’s Guild and ranks himself alongside talented amateurs. He says, “I don’t want to be a professional. I’m not in the Director’s Guild; I don’t want to be. I like holding on to my amateur status.”

That statement is a zillion months old man.

by the way, why can directors work without being in the Director’s Guild, but actors have to be in the SAG or they cannot work?

You dont have to be in SAG, to work as an actor. You can simply not join sag and work on non union films.

What is SAG?
