Takashi Miike films

I love Miike. The fact that he’s made like 60 films in 13 years is awesome. He makes films so fast that there is always a new Miike film close to being released.

Yeah hes the most hardworking guy out there… The magic is that most of them are classics… I own all his movies available on R1, fuckin 35 movies, cost me a fortune but he deserves it… Hungfist do you have his Sushi Western trailer? BTW Its nice to see the DOA actor again…

No, I don’t.

Thx for the reply… Another question is I wanted to order BodyGuard Kiba 2, Family 2 and Takeshis from Amazon.ca cuz theyre the remaining movies from Kitano and Miike which I dont have, however there pictures werent included… Usually when the picture isnt included in Amazon it means that they dont have the movie and theyre screwin up… Do you knw if any of these 3 movies is available on R1?

I have Takeshis’ on R4, I assume there is one on R1. The other two, I don’t know of at the moment.

R1’s:

Kiba 2: “The release date for this DVD is 7/10/2007” (hk flix)

Family 2: “Scheduled to release Tuesday, April 17, 2007” (cd universe) (xploited cinema says in stock, but they tend to get stuff early)

Takeshis’: As far as I know there is no US release. There’s a canadian, japanese (which I own), australian, Hong Kong and a bunch of european dvds at least.

Canadian? Thx for the info, really appreciated… Where can I find the Canadian release?

From Canada ;D

maybe dvdboxoffice? Never used them myself though. In fact I haven’t ordered anything from Canada in years. Just stay away from dvdsoon if they still exist.

Does he have any good martial arts films? Or are they mostly just gang violence and views of modern society?

The Way To Fight kinda has a martial arts theme to it. You don’t get see a whole lot of fighting, but there’s a great plot point in which one of the tough guys gets his ass handed to him by a martial arts expert. Then the discipline theme shows up as the “tough guy” vows to improve his skills by begging the expert to become one of his students.

DOA3 has the most martial arts fighting I’ve seen yet in a Miike film, but it’s mostly wire-fu.

Miike goes low budget again:

[i]After the relatively well-financed excesses of “Sukiyaki Western Djangoâ€

Another new Miike; Crows Zero. Seems like a high school gang film with martial arts. Trailer at the official site: http://www.crows-zero.jp/index.html

A bunch of positive Crows Zero reviews:

I just watched his Masters of Horror film “Imprint” last night. It was really good. The torture scene really made me squirm (think gums, fingernails meet needles).

After being pushed back 15 years from the original release date it seems like Miike’s classic super hero film is finally coming out on R1 on February 19

Zebraman was of course further pushed back but I think it’s out now.

Miike however doesn’t show signs of slowing down. His Zatoichi stage play with Sho Aikawa will be released as dvd recording in May (r2j, no subs). You can watch the trailer here: <LINK_TEXT text=“http://www.nipponcinema.com/news/tv_com … tage_play/”>http://www.nipponcinema.com/news/tv_commercial_for_miikes_zatoichi_stage_play/</LINK_TEXT>

But that’s not the only stage play he directed. Demon Pond will be hitting the R1 dvd soon.

He will also be directing a live action Yatterman, which will be released next year.

But closer to completion is the scifi romance God’s Puzzle

Miike has to be one of the hardest working directors in the world. The man can do bloodshed so very very well. Audition and Fudoh are the ones I can watch the most often. Absolutely demented and fun cinema!

This Yatterman teaseris just too good.
