Stupid question

People are saying Butch keyed Vincent’s car after the incident he had with him and all that “palooka and punchy” shit. It doesn’t make sense because Vincent didn’t have his car at that time (he blew Marvin’s head and had to use a cab remember?). And how could Butch have keyed it anywhere else, he had no idea what Vincent’s car looked like?

Did Butch still key Vincent’s Malibu? I’m just confused here.

Also, the song played during the credits, not “Jungle Boogie” by Kool and the Gang, but the one before that, kinda blended in. What’s the name of that song? Or is there no name for it?

“Miserlou” by Dick Dale and his Del-Tones

Thats the surf song during the credits

It says something about it in the trivia track, but now that i think about it it doesn’t make sense.

I think after Jules and Vincent left the diner, they went to Vincent’s storage garage (he just got back from Amsterdam) and got his Malibu (told Lance afterwards he didnt even have it out of storage long), then drove to Sally LeRoys to see Marcellus. They went in, Vincent saw Butch and dissed him, Butch went outside and keyed his car.

Excuse me for being a dumbass, but what does “keyed a car” mean? Many it’s the only thing I didn’t understand in Pulp.

Its when a guy takes a key, and uses it to scrape a line across the side of a car. Its the quickest and easiest way to piss off an asshole with a pretty, new car.

or even a guy’s SHITTY car. ;D

and it does a shitload of damage. i had someone do it to my car from the front to the back. it was so deep that they couldn’t buff it out and it ended up taking long as hell and costing a shit load. i wish i could have caught him doin’ it. it would have been worth him doin’ it.

Oh yeah, and vincent says that he had the car out five days (i think) if they went to the storage garage then it would have been less than one day. also, if they went there they wouldn’t have dressed like a couple of dorks. they would have changed clothes.

I just assumed that Vincent and Jules left their cars at Marcellus’ place when they met to get the Nova for the job. Not sure how Butch knew it was Vincent’s car, though.

Maybe he keyed all the cars in the parking place so as to be sure he keys Vincent’s ;D

Or maybe he was trying to key Marcellus’ car, and keyed Vincent’s on accident.

Vince and Butch probably didn’t know eachother, but I think that knew of eachother. Everybody knew who Marsellus was, so that means that a lot of people knew who his top minions were. He maybe had known Vince before he went to Amsterdam, and had probably seen various cars up at Le Roy’s before during the day or night and had never seen the Malibu up until that day, he probably put 2 and 2 together, and knew it was Vince’s car.

butch definitely keyed it. the reason they had to take a cab is cause they used the nova for the job and they had to get the nova crushed. so they had to take a cab to get another car to drive.
