I would love to buy this but Im not crazy about buying a dvd that has nudity on the cover, also they will probably rerelease it again in 5 more years with more extras.

For you Jackie Chan fans

Finally HKL releases something that interests me. HKL is hit and miss though and Joy Sales will be releasing Last Hurrah (one of Woo’s masterpieces) in the future, but if HKL gets them right, I might get both of them.

Ronin Entertainment will be releasing Fantasy Mission Force, Young Tiger and Heroine on R1 later this month. All films are widescreen, but only one of them anamorphic. They may or may not be dubbed. I wouldn’t expect much from the transfers. But if you know these films then you should know this is good news because even if the image sucked and they were dubbed these are still gonna be the first watchable edition available.

Joy Sales has a lot of Jackie on their remaster list: Battle Creek Brawl, My Lucky Stars, Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Stars, Winners And Sinners, The Young Master, Dragon Fist, Shaolin Wooden Men, To Kill With Intrigue, New Fist Of Fury, Dragon Lord, The Protector (also on HKL release list), Snake & Crane Arts Of Shaolin, Magnificent Bodyguards, Spiritual Kung Fu, Killer Meteors, Half A Loaf Of Kung Fu…

But Joy Sales has also recently proven to be hit & miss (Heart of the Dragon and Dragons Forever without mono, only downmixes, fuck them) so wait for the reviews before buying.

Also, fantastic news: Noriko’s Dinner Table coming out with english subs from Geneon

2007/02/23 / R2J

IVL should be releasing Suicide Club soon (R2J port, non-anamorphic, but should still be better than any other version) and there’s a R1 for Strange Circus coming out early next year. I’m getting the R2J myself, though.

Haha, are you kidding me? If that disturbs you then I don’t recommend you to watch the movie at all :stuck_out_tongue:

I have Thriller so I dont think Irrversible will disturb me but I guess I wont know for awhile. Anyway I just dont like that cover(Im sure I am alone on this)

Interesting to see how their tranfer fares. The R2J is crap and the French disc is even worse. Media Blasters has a long history on porting R2J transfers, so I’m not getting exited right yet. The French theatrical cut has a wonderful transfer, although some colour changes are quite radical and against the directors intentions. If MB’s UV transfer is good, then I’ll get it. Otherwise I’ll stick to my French Theatrical/Directors cut disc.

Thats pretty good news! Thanks!

2 disc release by Spectrum (R3 KR) with english subs

14.2.2007

From Panik House:

“This is the first time this title has been released on DVD in the USA, but we have restored all the material that has ever been cut, making our version the global definitive edition. It’s longer than any other version previously seen. It has extended nude scenes and crazy girl-on-girl action that nobody -and I mean NOBODY- has ever laid eyes on! Finally we can all throw away those parallel imports and low quality bootlegs, because this one is going to rock! We’re also releasing a deluxe edition of the follow-up Red Heat, another WIP gem -also starring Linda Blair (this time with Emmanuelle’s Sylvia Kristel). But wait! There’s more! We’ve got yet another new-to-DVD title, Jungle Warriors; an escape-from-jungle-hell film with Sybil Danning, Woody Strode and a cast of naked, kidknapped models. The version we’ll be releasing has a ton of nudity that I certainly don’t remember seeing on the old big-box VHS from my salad days as a video store clerk in the 80s. All are brand new transfers. All will be 16x9. All will kick major ass!”

For 2007 Media Blasters is planning a number of new live action releases including a Versus Special Edition (MSRP $39.95) in March and a special new DVD edition of Takashi Miike’s Ichi the Killer, which will come packaged with a blood bag when it hits store shelves in July. While some might find that bit of innovative packaging extreme, it certainly makes sense for an uber-violent splatter film like Ichi the Killer, and it certainly should appeal to the Fangoria audience (Fangoria being the magazine of choice for a broad swath of the North American audience for this new wave of Asian shock cinema).

Takashi Miike is the most innovative and interesting director working in the category and Media Blasters has a number of Miike releases set for 2007 including One Missed Call (Chakushin Ari), which Tokyo Shock plans to release along with a sequel in February. One Missed Call has been remade in an American version starring Edward Burns that is due out in 2007 and should help stir interest in the Japanese original.

But Tokyo Shock’s major release of 2007 is likely to be another Miike helmed film, Zebraman, the story of a timid elementary school teacher who is belittled by his students and deceived by his wife. This poor put-upon pedagogue finds his only solace is wearing the uniform of Zebraman, a superhero whose TV series lasted for just seven episodes some 34 years ago.

YESSS!
