Sex In Movies

After watching a series of IFC docs about sex in the movies, whats your opinion about sex in the movies? Do you like it or do you hate it.

Myself I’m not really into seeing porn scenes in a movie.

sex in movies is better then movies about sex…

if its there its there in my opinion, I don’t want it and if its there i don’t really care.

sex scenes in movies make me feel uncomfortable, but there are some great scenes like the one from desperado

I don’t really mind it. When I was younger and watching movies with

my family it could be kinda awkward, but that’s not really an issue anymore.

Sex in movies is so sanatized these days that it’s not really a big deal.

I think sex scenes in movies are almost somewhat mandatory. It builds development between two characters and is most likely the reason for it being there. When you have a movie that involves two characters having sex, and one of them dies later in the movie, you feel a loss for the other character(this usually involves the main character; i.e The Terminator, Leathal Weapon), bringing you closer to the character at loss.

For my movie, Weapon of Choice, I had plans for a sex scene with one of the main characters for the sequel. She later dies by the hands of the enemy, and sets a plot for revenge for the main character. This is another great example of why a sex scene can be so important.

Thriller: A Cruel Film?

An in In The Realm Of The Senses you get to see a blow job and a whole bunch of other things but I woudn’t call that a porno.

I was gonna say “Scarface is right: porn scenes are scenes from a porn movie and therefore only present in porn movies”. But the scenes in Thriller may actually be* from a porn movie. From what I’ve understood Christina Lindberg had no idea such scenes would be added into the film.

  • or not

Come to think of it, even The Brown Bunny has a hardcore BJ scene. Also Caligola. But I am pretty positive that this topic wants to discuss the importance of sex scenes in movies, not porn scenes. That’s why I pointed out me’s inaccurate statement in my first post.

Yea but what about all the exploitation films (now and then) that just put nudity in there to up the selling value of the film.

How about sex being the main theme? There’s good movies about drugs, violence etc. But what about sex? The only good one I can think of is Ai no corrida (Realism of the Senses)

2 words, Boogie Nights

yeah, I always forget about that. Haven’t seen it myself either.

There’s quite a few adaptations of the Abe Sada story, including Noboru Tanaka’s Nikkatsu film Jitsuroku Abe Sada (1975) and Nobuhiko Obayashi’s mesmerising image trip Sada (1998).

Wonderland is another one, never seen it though.

Nudity and Sex are entirely two different things. We could make another topic called, “Nudity In Movies” to prove that.

Yeah, it’s great film.

I heard it’s pretty weird and it’s sucks apparently… But I trust Roger Ebert or Scorsese more then some asshole at IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes.
