yes
also a great roadmovie: Weekend & Pierrot Le Fou, both by Godard, they are excellent, loads of black humor 8)
and ofcourse Stranger Than Paradise, The Straight Story, Down by Law …
Two Lane Blacktop
National Lampoon’s Vacation
Roadside Prophets
Get on the Bus
Powow Highway
Tommy Boy
Follow That Bird ;D
Motorcycle Diaries - I didn’t like it but many others do
Collateral - You said roadmovie not roadtrip movie
I know I can always count on Laydback,… I was scrolling down further and further, shocked that no one had mentioned Two Lane Blacktop, on of the best road movies there is.ÂÂ
Some other good to great road movies:
Paris, Texas
Kings of the Road
Detour
Gun Crazy
Guncrazy
Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry
The Getaway
Joyride (1977)
Paper Moon
The Rain People
Slither
The Sorcerer
Sugarland Express
Thieves Like Us
Bonnie and Clyde
They Drive By Night
Thunder Road
Thunderbolt and Lightfoot
And don’t forget,…
The Cannonball Run
Smokey and the Bandit (plus sequels and rip-offs)
And also, just about any biker or trucker movie might qualify, but those are different discussions IMO.
If you’re a fan of that early 90s post Tarantino “hey, attractive people with guns sells big” type genre, then Teenage Bonnie and Clepto Clyde (it might be called The Adventures of Teenage Bonnie and Clepto Clyde or some such, I don’t remember) is really good from what I can remember. It’s been awhile, but there’s a lot of casual sex and violence plus a melodramatic ending. What more can you ask for?
Jim Jarmusch’s “Dead Man” & Sam Peckinpah’s “Convoy” !!!
I know Im not the only one that loves, “Road Movies” name some of your favorites.
My List:
Vanishing Point
Dirty Mary,Crazy Larry
Bonnie and clyde
Bring me the head of alfredo garcia
Duel
Wild Angels
Love those too. Some other favorites:
Easy Rider
Fandango
Cannonball
The Hitcher
Breakdown
Two Lane Blacktop
Death Race 2000
Hells Angels on Wheels
Hells Angels 69
The Glory Stompers
Cannonball Run
Speed Zone
Smokey and the Bandit
Haven’t seen much unfortunately but the ones I thought were best so far:
-The Straight Story
- Fear and Loathing
- Duel
- Wild at Heart
I saw Slither with James Caan on TCM yesterday, that was brilliant! A funny little low-budget road movie, surprisingly amusing, see it someday
as far as road movies are concerend: EASY RIDER tops most of em
and nozt to forget the equally great Vanishing Point
------------its all about freedom
Kikujiro no natsu (Summer of Kikujiro)
Easy Rider is THE road movie. It’s great, I just can’t stand the hippy scenes and the swimming scenes.
