Quentin Tarantino and Paul Thomas Anderson

#1

Just read this on IMDB.
Interviewer: When was the last time you felt professional envy? When was the last time you saw a film which made you think: 'Damn, i wish i made that.'

Tarantino: Good question. Hmmmmmmm…

Interviewer: Just a guess: ‘There Will Be Blood’?

Tarantino: It’s funny you mention ‘There Will Be Blood’. Me and Paul Thomas Anderson have unique relationship. I don’t think you can call it rivalry. It’s more like a healthy competition. It’s like this: i’m Marlon Brando, and Paul is Montgomery Clift. And like everybody knows Brando was much better (grins). The point is: Brando could only be better thanks to Montgomery Clift. They constantly tried to surpass each other!

When Paul put out ‘There Will Be Blood’ two years ago there was noone more proud and happier than me. But at the same time i realized: ‘Damn, now i’m gonna have to make an even better film’. Paul has seen ‘Inglourious Basterds’ by now and he loved it. Now it’s up to him once again (grins).
I love both of them and think it’s awesome! 8)
