You said "But QT wasn’t responsible for the cinematography."
I wasent bashing the NBK i was complmenting it…so there was no reason to make the point that he wasent responsible for it.

You said "yea plus i dont think that tarantino could direct the cinematography as well as oliver stone did in NBK."
But why would you say something like that, because QT wasn’t a cinematographer was he? So why would he “direct the cinematography”?
he isn’t a cinematographer - he is a director. this is a really stupid argument.

yes but he directs the cinematographer he just dont say “hey fuck shoot it any way you want i dont care im only the director”
that is exactly what he does. he empowers people who are good at what they do.

so then what your sayin is really he does nothing your saying he does not set the shots up does not say what time of film he wants what look of the film he is going for he just sits back and lets everyone make decisions for him.
A director is like the president - he finds all of the right people to get the job done. He tells them what he is looking for and then he lets them do what they do best. He usually picks people who are known for doing things the way that he is looking for them to be done - I seriously doubt that the director stands behind the cinematographer and watches his every move - he could just do it himself and save a lot of money.

your right but he didn’t direct it

In some cases, yes. But some directors are more like Dictators and don’t give the DP a lot of creative freedom
I think QT has pretty clear what he wants…I think he is open for input but surely has it HIS way. This is clearly seen by the way you can recognize a QT movie a mile away. You cant compare it to anyone else’s style. A QT movie is QT.
The director is responsible for how everything looks as a whole. He tells the DOP what he wants and the DOP figures out the best way to shoot that. The director might say “I want a low angle shot that captures this and that…” and then the DOP figures out where he should put the camera and how he should light it based on the mood the director is trying to convey. Basically, the director does direct the cinematographer, because he directs everyone on set. That’s is why he’s called the director. But the cinematographer has a lot to do with how it looks.
Unless it’s a Stanley Kubrick film. In that case, Stanley Kubrick and pretty much only Stanley Kubrick has a lot to do with how everything looks.
and rodriguez.
Raw instinct.
Just now watched it for the first time. God that was awful. That’s the worst movie I’ve seen since Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings. It’s just a bunch of random acts of violence, sprinkled with sleazy sex mixed with a bunch of random ass clips. Changing the kind of camera used every 10 seconds gets really old too. Not one single character used Tarantino dialogue the way its meant to be heard. This is why Tarantino should direct Tarantino scripts and no one else. True Romance and From Dusk Til Dawn were the same way, but those movies weren’t terrible, just so so.
I try to avoid bad movies at all cost but I just had to see this 'cause of the Tarantino script. I still have yet to see Four Rooms.
